I Need Tranlation For All The Abbreviations, Please Please :}

Recommended Posts

I am pretty new to this site and very new in my journey to lose weight by having the sleeve done. I have read a lot of post that have Abbreviations, can you please translate for me? Like NUT, PCP & so on. I'm sure once I see them in print I'm going to give myself a forehead slap and say OMG why couldn't I figure that out, but I also don't want to assume and be thinking the wrong thing. Ive looked everywhere I can think of on this site to see if I could find them but I haven't found them yet. Thank you all in advance for your help with this :}

Here's a few: nsv non scale victory (ie clothes feeling loser, compliments, things that remind u or show u that u are losing weight without the scale)

NUT - nutritionist or dietician

PCP - primary care physician

WLS - weight loss surgery

OP - original poster

What's cpap.? I think that's what I saw...

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure.

When you see CPAP on this site it is referring to a machine that is used to treat sleep apnea by continually blowing air into the nose, mouth or both while sleeping.

And if you try to talk with it on you'll frighten small children and pets because you sound like an asthmatic Darth Vader...

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
