I'm six days post op.its really hard to get all the protein in.[/quote']

One week out., Today I've had Chobani plain yogurt, creamy Tomato Soup, creamy chicken Soup, Water, Crystal Light Decaf Iced Tea and Protein Shake - Syntrax Nectar vanilla Bean Torte. I go for my follow up on Wednesday and am hoping that the doc will move me to mushies - I feel like I need something more substantial... I am missing Italian food the most but have a substitute planned when the time comes - ricotta cheese, a bit of Tomato sauce and mozz cheese.

Where do you buy that Protein shake ? Great idea for the Pasta. Now if we could come up with a substitute of garlic toast. Lol

Sleeved on Nov 6, just started soft foods today. I've had some mini quiche things (FF egg product, cheese, ham) baked in mini muffin tins. Refrained Beans with a little cheese, guacamole, string cheese, deli sliced turkey, chili, yogurt. I work 12 hour shifts and wanted to bring a variety since I'm not exactly sure what I will feel like eating.

Refried beans why does it automatically correct to refrained? Lol

Good luck to all!

Surgery was Nov 20, so I'm six days out and doing well. I'm on an all liquid diet till December 20 per my surgeon. I haven't had many hunger pains, just wish I had better flavored Protein Drinks. I think this is going to be the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck everyone coming up! it is totally worth it!

Oh also was so excited for egg salad and chicken salad! Made some last night and had to SPIT IT OUT. I guess my tastes for now have changed. Had my mother taste both and she said they were good. Oh well, will try again sometime in the future.

Got the shake on amazon...12 individual packets was something like $23. Worth it. And I sometimes add either unsweetened cocoa powder or MIO in tangerine/orange to change it up. The orange flavoring is esp good b/c it tastes like a creamsickle!

My surgery is on Wednesday and today I woke up with a really minor sore throat and stuffy nose!!!!!! Nnnnnooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! I was asked to notify them if I got any cold or flu symptoms. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> I don't want it to be canceled.. What should I do?!?

Definitely tell your Dr. You don't want to risk anything. The day of my surgery I had a low fever and they went ahead with my surgery. Better to be safe

MIO is just a liquid water flavoring. It has no protein. I use it in my shakes (and you could even flavor yogurt with it too) for variety.

I was sleeved 11/15 in NJ. I had no nauseau or pain, sore of course, and the gas/reflux was pretty bad (get those Gas X strips!) but that was because they fixed a hiatal hernial. I'm doing really well, so far down about 11 lbs per my scale. I'm eating Protein Shakes, sf Jello & pudding, plain/vanilla yogurt (non fat), I can have milk, oatmeal, pureed veggies, mashed potatos, broth or pureed Soup, SF Ice pops, crystal light, tea, Water, gatorade etc. The yogurt cup or jello/pudding cup is about a serving for me per meal. I'm doing fine, don't feel overly hungry, my body tells me when I need to eat and I'm listening to it. Supposed to get about 45-60 oz of liquid plus 70-85 g of Protein per day.. I feel like all I do is eat and drink trying to get it all in! After 3 weeks of soft/puree foods, then I will move to more of a solid.

I'm glad I did it, and I was a nervous wreck! Good luck to everyone having their surgery this week and in the coming weeks. It truly does get better every day.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
