I am starting my per op diet now (my surgery isnt ti feb 8th) because I want to lose at least 30+ lbs before my surgery. So when I lose 100 lbs I still won't be in the 300's. And the more weight I lose before surgery the less risky it is. So anyway with all that being said I am do a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch salad and lean meat for dinner. What is the best Protein Drinks? Any thing I can do so I won't get bored? What about Snacks? What do you all suggest? Trying very hard to stay on the pre op diet but it does not say anything about snacks until the liquid diet and that is Jello and etc....

I lost 80 lbs pre op. I followed what I learned in the classes. First I cut out all liquid calories. Pretty much only drank Water. (Crystal light packets are ok). Protein, protein and more protein. I cut my carbs way back and more than anything I cut my portion size way back. I would eat a good protein packed breakfast, a sensible lunch and a small supper (protein shake/bar or a small salad). I also tried not to eat anything after 6:30/7:00 in the evening. I was able to go from 350 down to 270 lbs. My surgery is scheduled for the 29th of Oct and I am currently on the pre op liquid diet.< /p>

I bet you could do it :)

I had huge success on the Atkins diet... If u go online to the atkins website they will send you a booklet with two weeks diet plan and a book of food choices.

Think positive!!! :)

I am starting my per op diet now...

Thank you for this post! I was wondering too. I'm starting the same thing tomorrow. I have to complete 3 months of this supervised diet before I can see the surgeon. I don't know how much I will lose, I've tried all kinds of diets before and haven't had success, so I'm afraid I won't lose anything. My surgeon requires a skim milk only diet 2-4 weeks before surgery. I am NOT looking forward to that! Nothing but skim milk and Water for two or more weeks. Gag.

Good luck! You'll do great! Just keep coming back here for support from people who understand.

My pre-op diet :

3 Protein shakes per day, one low fat yogurt, 2 small salads, and sugar free Jello. This is 14 days before surgery. I am finishing day 4, with my surgery scheduled for Nov. 7.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
