I am 7 days post op....I know I shouldn't weight myself everyday but I can't help it. I'm down 9 lbs in this short amount of time. I also have been so hungry. I try to drink more to get rid of the hunger pains and it still doesn't work. Any ideas to help stop the hunger pains would be greatly appreciated,

I am 8 days out and have had the same problem. But I've learned it's "brain hunger". And it's true. I'm on full liquids and have been making smooth, puréed veggie Soups. And believe me, if I eat too much, I get chest pains, even if I still feel hungry.

Keep reminding yourself of "brain, not belly". ☺

I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I was just progressed to soft foods(fish and moist meats). I've been stuck at 242 for about a week. I'm still getting less than 500 calories a day. Could my body be in starvation mode?

Uve probably hit the dreaded 3 week stall. I'm 3 weeks out today. Stuck at 248. Although I'm weighing everyday so seeing stalls more often. Are u weighin everyday? I know I'm the pot calling the kettle black but try to weigh every week instead, probably will never see a stall

Unfortunately, yes I have been weighing myself every day. I'm going to do my best to only weigh myself on Saturdays. You are probably right...it's the dreaded 3 week stall.

I am soo HUNGRY!!!, I am 5 days post op and this growling in my stomach feels like real hunger to me. What exactly is the difference between HEAD hunger and REAL hunger? I have been reading everywhere and cant really find the definition. I am not allowed to go to full liquids till Friday, I need substance or I'm gonna cry.! I feel lightheaded and weak. Sorry for the rant.

Sleeved on the 18th Nd I'm hungry today!! Dreamed of chicken and string cheese lol!!!! Full liquids start Friday ugh feels like forever!!

I was also sleeved on the 18th. I was feeling the hunger yesterday and have been handling all Clear Liquids great so I called my nutritionist and she told me to go ahead and move to full liquids and take it slow. It was great to have 3 oz of a Protein Shake at lunch and like 2.5oz of strained cream Soup at supper. It is going down smooth. Good luck on your journey.

So you take an anti acid. The feeling you have may be your stomach acids and not hunger. Check with your doctor to see what the say about an antiacid. I take one 2x a day and it has stopped and now I really know when I'm hungry.

Last night was my first night at home. Went pretty well. Managed to make it through the night without any pain med. Took some this morning though. Heating pad helped. Not sure how I am going to get my fluids in. Don't want any and makes my stomach spasm, even with small sips.

Yes, I do take an antacid in the morning and even after I take it I'm still hungry. I'm going to call my doc and see whats up. Maybe he will let me go to shakes or pudding. Or maybe the antacid isnt strong enough. I'll call him and see. Thank you for your help.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
