Hi I am getting sleeved Oct 22, I start my pre-op diet on the 10th. I feel like I am about to experience the death of my stomach, to put it dramatically. Haha. Is it awful that I want to eat at all my favorite places before I start the dreaded liquid diet or should I just get my favorite deliciousness while I still can? What do y'all think?

its a normal feeling. also known as food funerals. I wish I wouldn't had had so many and gained 8 pounds preop! You will eat at your favorite places again. I regret the food funerals cause I could probably could have been 8 pounds ahead of where I am now!

I have not officially started my liquid diet, but i have been replacing meals for the past week. I have been drinking 64 oz of water, and it is really hard some days without my new belly. You know the more you look at your goal the better. Keep your eye on the prize. Food has gotten us all in this place, celebrate your new beginning. This is really about changing your mind. Think about your favorite food (one item) and eat that instead of sabbataging your self. For me I will eat a nice size piece of choclate cake, that is it. This is not the last supper, it is like having a new life, all things will be new so enjoy the ride. Change the way you think about this whole process lol good luck.

Whitney, I'm going through the same thing! I lost 25 lbs (6 month diet) and have gained back 2 in the last week and only 2 weeks out from surgery. I'm trying to get myself in check. I felt so prepared less then a week ago and now that my date is final I have started letting my cravings get the best of me. However, I know what I'm doing is best for myself and I'm going to pick myself up and get back on track.

HI EVERYONE!! New to the forum just joind. Sugary Date is 10/16. It does feel like Death of All things Delicious , But then I remember that it's Also the Death of All my Awful Eating Habits and My Old Self and Unhealthy Self. Just because we are Changing our Life doesn't mean that we can't have Delicious healthy food. For me its more of a good bye for now, because I don't know how to enjoy the Delicious foods in moderation. And one day we will meet again.

i was afraid of the same thing. but i have found that we can still have delicious food! my family all likes our new menus better than the old stuff.

we especially LOVE the emilybites. check out the line of cupcake meals that she has. i live on cupcakes now, and they are fabulous. my kids beg me to make these recipes, and as an added bonus, my wife that is a nonop has lost 62 pounds by eating these recipes and being my support person.

I needed to read this thread..... I need to realize why I NEED this surgery to begin with. No more food funerals for me. I'm going to focus more on tighting up, so when I do have my surgery I dont have to worry about loose skin.

Hi, I'm also October 22nd. I have the same thoughts and I'm getting on my own nerves, LOL. I'm so ready to do this but time feels as if it is literally standing still.

I'm so glad you posted this! I've been planning my farewell to food tour and I thought I was the only one. I think it will be a good start for the coming year (and beyond of course!)

I can relate to every one of your posts! glad to know that I'm not the only one struggling with this. I am beyond excited to have this surgery and know I can make good choices, which is why I am wanting to enjoy those few favorite things while I can.

I'm not going on a balls to the wall food binder, I just mean over the next 2 weeks go to my 3 favorite places once, and get what I like.

I mean, I have no intentions of gobbling down the whole restaurant and its waiters, just enjoying a smaller portion of my favorite dish. By the time I can eat solids, I know I will not eat those foods again (because yeah they are bad for me) so it really IS the last time I will eat those ever again.

I do NEED and WANT this surgery and realize what it will take to get where I want. I cannot wait to start this journey and wish the best of luck to everyone

I agree Whitney. All of our journeys are our own. When we are at our goal weight and look back it is possible that we may think "I don't miss that food and didn't need it". But today is not that day. I think in moderation it can be ok. I believe where people get in trouble is those 2,000+ calorie meals like I used to have at The Cheesecake Factory. I have intently stayed away and will not say goodbye as I don't want to completely sabotage myself.

I completely agree with you Jonathan! I seem to forget that those are things that got me here in the first place! It is a constant struggle between old habits and new good habits I am trying to instill in myself. I can tell the next 2 weeks are going to be a battle of temptation. Good luck to you and your upcoming surgery, we can do this!
