I'm on the losers bench! Arrived at the hospital yesterday at 8:45am, there were four of us on the schedule and I was last, went into surgery @ 7:30pm! Slept most of the day and just waited my turn. I actually liked being that late because as soon as I got to my room I walked then went to bed. I was lucky, minimal gas pain just under my bust which went away rather quickly after walking before bed. The most tender area is where my drain is. Been up walking more today and passed my leak test so now I get fluids, yay!!!! Dr. Garcia and his staff is amazing! So willing to answer all my questions and explain everything to me, and they are so encouraging! Makes it so much easier. I hope everyone else has as good as an experience as I am having! I recommend bringing some things though: sugar free lozenges for the dry mouth after surgery and a samll firm pillow to hold against your tummy when getting up and sleeping. It helps sooooo much!

Woohoo! Thanks for posting, and I am soooo stoked you had a good experience so far....

As far as the small pillow, I got one of those Surgery Bears on eBay (its like a hard, flat-backed Teddy Bear that is supposed to be helpful for coughing, turning, getting up, (puking/wretching: i know, it sucks, but a lot of post oppers deal with nausea!). Do you think my bear will be sufficient, or should I get an actual pillow for this? How was the language barrier? I've heard they've really upped their game on that front...

So glad you're doing so well :-) .

Speedy recovery to you!

The language barrier hasn't been bad. The only problems were outside the hospital, the staff is very good. I think your bear wil be fine. MY SIL gave me hers from her surgery and it has just been a huge help.

Bad news for me. My band had eroded into my stomach. Dr said he saved my life. Thank you God! He also said no sleeve or even bypass EVER! I'm very upset right now. Been crying a lot but I would rather have my life. Thanks for all your prayers and support. May God send you all wonderful success!

I am so sorry to read your post. I believe that we had chatted some about you going to Dr. A. He is a truly wonderful surgeon and he would not ever take the chance of harming you in any way. I know it has to be heartbreaking for you to go through that. You are alive and it sounds as though that lap band needed to get out of your body before it took your life. I will pray for you to have peace in the situation. Hugs to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
