Hormone Changes From Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve done last November. I am close to goal. That's a great thing. However, at about the 50 lb marker, I started having many hot flashes (in Feb). And in the past month, things that would have never upset me before eat up most of my concentration. I cry so easily. Because I am 52, I am probably also going through menopause or about to go through it. Anyone else out there have any of these emotional swings and if so, what helped you get through it? I never imagined that the weight loss could maybe trigger these things. One other thing, my stomach is obviously so small I can eat very little meat, which I miss. I get most of my Protein from shakes and Beans. Any suggestions? I'm all ears!!

I'm 56 and have hot flashes periodically. They come and they go. I am 11 months out also and I eat meat. I'd try to up your chicken and fish so your stomach will get use to digesting solid Proteins. I do love my shakes but I find that chicken, fish and beef are easier on the calories and keeps me full longer. Let me know your doing, I'm hoping to maintain with minimum weight loss. :)

I'm not sure if those hormone changes are from weight loss. I had all that around the 50 year mark and I hadn't had surgery. Just normal menopause changes I think.

Rapid weight loss does affect our hormones. I am 36 years old and dealing with it, I can go from happy to mad to sad in 2 seconds flat. I feel like Sybil! I do think it normalizes after a while though. Because you are in your 50's I would get checked that way if you are beginning menopause you can start treatment to help you feel better. Good Luck hun :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
