Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Thus far my meals consits of Water, Protein Shakes, chicken broth, and Jello. I was stuffed all day yesterday. My family of course cooked and ate whatever they wanted but it did bother me any. Since I was never hungery, I never craved what they had.

Hello fellow september sleeves! I had my surgery September 17th and I'm getting discharged from the hospital today- day 5 (Yah!) Really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. I was allowed to start my Clear Liquids on day 3 post barium swallow (OMG was that a disgusting cocktail) 3 times a day I get apple juice, hot herbal tea and Jello. So ready for some clear liquid variety. For some reason my sleeve rejected the jello (had that lovely thing called sliming- burped up the slimy frothy stuff) Haven't really had much pain past day 2 although the larger incision is still sore. Other incisions are starting to itch. Burping alot! Although to me it feels like hiccups. Getting full really fast 4-6oz then im done for about 2 hours. Have noticed my emotions are a little out of wack tho. Yesterday my IV blew and caused a lot of swelling in my hand and even though I was a trooper regarding the abdominal pain my hand made me whiny and cranky. So weird, My starting weight was 283 on day of op and they haven't weighed me again yet. Which is kinda nice because i'm not stressing out about how much I have lost. Really liked reading everyones surgery experiences! It's comforting to know i'm not in this alone.

walman all i can say is wow 15lbs

nurse girl look at you wow congrats on the loss

wish, i went to trader joes yesterday and shopped for my next phase i purchased. low fat cottege cheese, shredded moz cheese, cream corn Soup, lactaid, eggs, eggplant, green Beans, chicken. thats where i do my main shopping. check it out you will love it.

bukki thak it slow you will be able to get the Water in. i am day 9 and the Water goes down much smoother but its still a slow process because you cant take to much in at one time just take a couple of sips wait a min and sip again. your doing fine

nellie im with kaiser also who is your surgeon mines was zelada in southern cali. dont you get jealous of the other who are on foods so early i know i do and it tempts me im like maybe i should give it a try but im chicken so i will just follow kaisers instructions.

absta my nurse put my iv in my wrist palm up and omg the next day the pain was horrible they had to take it out and now the vein is swollen and super sore still after 9 days.

tm god bless you honey you will be fine.

golden the liquids will keep you full but i do get hungry sometimes my little tummy be acting up sometimes ( feed me seymor).

tekera i know what you are saying but each program and dr are differant. kaiser is very very strict. but im sure there doctors know whats best for thier patients, i wish kaiser was that way with food shoooooooooooootttttttttttttt.

rybecca how are you girlie

so good to see everyone striving and doing well and for those that are running into complications you will be fine, just a little bump but by thanksgiving we will be rocking our sleeves have control of our need for food and will be looking and feeling good.

myself i am doing good i did a lot yesterday i felt it in mytummy a little last night but nothing major. bought all my foods for my phase 3 omg cant wait to eat me some chicken thigh and refried beens and for some strange reason i want eggplant so i bought one i have to learn how to cook it. everyone have a blessed day and keep thriving and doing well

I was sleeved on Sept 17 so i am 4 days post op. It is hard to get all the liquids in. My back is hurting and i hurt really bad when i cough. I hope that i have not busted anything open from coughing. I just sip sip sip all day long. Everything is staying down, i enjoy the sugar free popsicles the most. I feel really weak today so i have not walked today. I really will be glad when i heal because that is the worst right now. I do want some real food but i know the importance of following the doc orders. I will be able to start the puree stage on Tuesday so i am happy about that. I really wish i was pain free. How long does the pain last?

My surgery was also 1 week ago today. Today I have been wanting food so bad, I took one bite of chicken earlier and now drinking a kool aid pouch. I dont know what to do.

Yeah, it sucks...I wanted food too. Like a social thing, and just wanted to freaking chew something that wasn't SWEET!! But it gets better. Keep reminding yourself that your stomach is in the process of healing and if you do food too fast, you'll be back in the hospital pretty darn quick. I sat here and cried and cried and had buyer's remorse. But then I started to feel a little better, was able to not be on meds during the day and could get out and walk and could see the scale move in the direction that I like....and you know, it's okay. I keep telling myself, I will be able to eat just give it time. And pardon me, but damn the tv doesn't help either. Never even noticed before how many food commercials they have on there!!! It's a conspiracy to make us all fat. Well, we'll freaking show them, we'll lose weight and still be able to eat small amounts of yummy things!

Hang in there. It does get better. And I'm only 11 days post-op.

. For some reason my sleeve rejected the Jello (had that lovely thing called sliming- burped up the slimy frothy stuff).

Ok, so I went through this for two days and didn't realize it was the jello. Does anyone know why this happens? I love my jello, so does this stop afterwhile or do I give away my jello to the kids, lol.?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
