A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Thanx for the kind thoughts. By the way Cloe, I notice that you are now advertising that teenagers suck. LOL Want to share?

I dug deep into the archives to resurrect this thread. I did this because I noticed today that the jeans that I had managed to get into a couple of months ago are now loosey-goosey in the waist! This is the place where I take the longest to lose weight because I have always been thick-waisted even when I was thin. I think that it may finally be time for me to go shopping, eh. It's funny but I am feeling kind of nervous about this.

Congrats green! I've been wanting to resurrect this one too!

What does thick waisted mean? Aren't we all?

Hmmmm... NSV's for me:

- all the 'you look great's this week have been awesome

- I'm wearing a green, zip-up hoody that I bought when I was 15 (didn't wear for long, but I kept because I liked it and always wanted to fit it again)

- no longer in the 2_ sizes!

- I've grabbed a little wall mirror in our bathroom to check out my ass, more than a couple times!

- that 'fat hunch' on the back of my neck that I was happy to see disappearing last time I posted here is gone!

- I hear 'you're to bone-y" from Dan alot... and I feel them alot.

- sit-ups on the floor are very painful, so I have to fold the mat into so my tail bone doesn't dig into the floor. (ie: less butt, closer to floor!)

- for the first time since we've been together (almost 4 years), I let him pick me up, and now he does it all the time. And I'm not worried about hurting him. When he used to do it before, I'd do what 5 yr olds do, go all limp, so he couldn't grab me!

- I had a picture taken of myself, and actually gave it to other people... almost like I was ok with how I looked!!

- I caught myself RUNNING down the hallway of my apartment when I realized I forgot my laundry in the dryer for longer than its supposed to be :omg:

- I've been tempted to run on the treadmill at the gym. I turned the speed up a few times, did a little trot. (decided I look too dumb running, and stopped pretty quick)

I'm sure I've got more. Will add later !

Hi Ladies,

I went shopping for me today. I was nervous and excited at the same time. I think my NSV is that I'm comfortable in fitted tops now and I went to regular stores - not Penningtons or the Plus size department. I gained 3 lbs over Christmas but if I watch myself I know that I will lose that again. food is not my comfort - I still crave sweets but I'm satisfied with a "taste".

This thread is awesome. Thanks for reviving it - inspirational! You guys are the best. Best wishes for continued success, better health and more wealth in 2007!

Good question. I think it truly does happen for some people. I can only speak from MY experience. I can't honestly say that I'm 100% satisfied with a "small taste". God knows I WANT more (hence the not 100% satisfaction) but I "know" I can't have more. I know physically I can't....so I stop before I get to the point of being reminded that I can't physically have more than the little taste.

It really pisses me off sometimes. BUT I wouldn't have it any other way!

....in other words....no regrets!

Here's mine.

To stop having to apply a strip of duct tape to the zippers on my pants so that my gut doesn't bust out cause a scene.

I too, have that fat hunchy thing on my neck and when I go for a massage, someone always says "you should have that looked at...something doesn't seem right." Well, stop poking at it for chrisss sake.

And here is a stretch for me..walk the dogs in daylight without worry about car loads of teens verbally attacking me because of my size. Yes, it's happened (more than once). I've allowed this fear to dictate when I go out for walks and I have to take back control of this situation.

Wow!!! Great NSV's!!! We Rock, Eh????

Angel Bear, I also went up a couple pounds, pales in comparison to last year, though. I'm not worried, once tommorow night is over everything holidayish is going in the garbage. I actually CAN'T WAIT!!!

I can't fathom being "satisfied with just a taste". Is that really going to happen???

You will actually find yourself eating much less than before. I find myself leaving food on plates in restaurants now. Before I used to hoover everything up.:hungry:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
