Has anyone else tested positive for H Pylori in the pre op stage ? I am hoping these antibiotics kick it to the curb .. I have this paranoia that it won't and I will never have my surgery

Hey, I was diagnosed with H Pylori as well but they decided to wait until after my surgery to give me antibiotics. I was just sleeved on Tuesday and guess I will be getting my meds eventually. I dont think you need to worry.

I was positive also & was treated with 2 wks of antibiotics prior to my surgery. The dr wasn't worried at all about it. I have to go & do a breath test to make sure it's gone (they said to do it a month after the antibiotics)

I tested positive too. My doctor is having me wait until after surgery to take the meds. I have surgery on Sept.17. I was a little worried but doc said it was okay.

I tested positive and took 2 wks of the antibiotics. They were hard on my stomach. But he didn't have me retest. I had surgery on 8/29..

So strange you all seem to have the same experience ... Wonder why I am retesting and why if positive again my surgery will be delayed further :(

How did your surgery go ? I'm nervous

It went well. I was told if I followed the pre- op diet to a T I wld have less complications. I had no nausea or vomiting. Very little pain, I took pain meds the day I came home and only 1/2 a tsp and that was the only time, other then two days this week. I over did it on the exercising. Think positive...

Ask your surgeon, maybe something happened in the past, that makes him more cautious .

I am doing well. The second day was the worst with gas, nausea and vomiting but day 3 was soooo much better. Good luck on your surgery! Just keep telling yourself in the hard spots that it will get better! I am not even a week sleeved and I feel really really good. Not sure when they will start my med for H plyori but I am not worried about it for now. Just have to focus on healing my tummy. Let me know how you do. I will be thinking of you tomorrow!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
