Hi everyone,

I'm two days post op and am now at home finally. In the hospital I was always forced to lay on my back because I was hooked up to so many things but now that I am home, I want to sleep on my side or even my stomach. Anybody out there have experience with that and how long you waited?

Thanks!

I was sleeved 9/4 & it still hurts to lay on my left side. Very much so! I can do it, just not all the way on my left side. I'm sort of leaning back. Haven't tried my stomach though, I don't sleep on it usually.

I had a hard time laying flat for a few days. I slept in the recliner for a few days. Then I slept in the bed on my side. I am not a back sleeper either. I had no trouble on my side.

My wife made an embankment of pillows in bed for me. Slept and relaxed there. I couldn't imagine sleeping on my side or stomach early out. I am a 3/4 side to stomach sleeper, so it was a little odd for me. Couple weeks post op and I was back to sleeping that way.

Slept on my side since i came home, have to change sides frequently though and kind of try not to put too much pressure on it.

I slept on my side once I came home from the hospital... And then started to sleep on my stomach the next day... I would say try it and if it hurt then it is to soon if not then your good to go

Yesterday was day 6 and I was comfortable on either side. YMMV.

within an hour of coming home i went to sleep on my stomach. was very careful when adjusting and although was painful at first, it was the only way i could get "good" sleep. :)

Thanks everyone. Guess I will try the sides tonight and see how they are and maybe try the tummy a few days later. Appreciate the feedback!!

I slept on my side right after my surgery. But like stated previously I had to move frequently to be comfortable. Now 3 weeks later I still feel just a little discomfort when tryin to lay or sleep on my stomach although my incisions have healed beautifully

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
