Calling All Low Bmi (Ers)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I'm really intersted in hearing how you VSG patients with a low BMI are doing?

As for me I'm 5'7 tall and weight 229 my bmi is around 35 I would like to lose about 75 to 80lbs...I guess my question is would you do it again if you had less then 100lbs to lose?

My surgery date is scheduled for 26 Sep and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow...I'm just really super nervous ...excited....scared...and happy so many mixed feeling...

Thanks!!!

Yes and yes, I was 240, 5"6 and I did my research and I told no one, got my surgery done and I keep it a secret till I die I guess lol. I am 148 now, surprisingly I am 5'7 now. I am a size 4 and I am happier than even. You can do it, just write down all the reasons why you want to be healthy

You bet! I am 5'5, started at 217 and was sleeved three weeks ago. Now I am 196,so 21 pounds in three weeks. Last time I lost around 20 pounds it took me 5 months and then I gained it all back. I also did this on the proverbial down low ;). Love my sleeve!

I have the same stats as you and was sleeved Aug 6. I've lost 15 lbs in 5 weeks. It's slower than I had hoped but worth it. I'm never hungry and that is very freeing!

My bmi is 32. I am 5'8 and weigh 210 and am scheduled for Nov 16th. I have diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia and I so hope that this sleeve can help me do what years of yo-yo dieting couldnt.

I'm 5'4, had a starting bmi of 36 at 93kg or 204lb. I'm now exactly 1 month out today and am 76kg or 160lb. Weight loss includes pre-op diet. No1 will ever know about my surgery. Work mates think I was off work for 2 weeks with a horrendous gastro bug and I'm now working hard to keep the weight I lost off. I've been overweight for 2kgs and hope to have a bmi in the healthy weight range by Easter, if not new year.

I am 5'8 @238 lbs...my bmi is 36. I want to have the surgery done in Dec. I would like to about 70lbs. I wondered the same thing. I go back and 4th with feeling guilty since I have less than 100lbs to lose but then I remind myself I have been trying to lose this weight on my own for years now. I have mastered losing some and re-gaining more :/ I haven't told anyone besides my husband, mother, & sister. I am just not in the mood to hear any negativity about or opionions on how they think I should lose it. I am also going to have to self pay so I am going to Mexico (i really dont want to hear my family and/or friends opinions on that either). I am really nervous tho.

My stats are close, I am 5'4, 240 with a 40 bmi. But I am a big blab and told everyone! I am sure I will regret that, as I do most things come out of my mouth! but I thought I needed the support of my friends and also thought if they knew maybe I woldn't have to explain later, they would just accept me. PLUS, I have a friend who lost a lot of weight fast and looking back I KNOW she had to have had this done and she told me it was diet and exersize and I think that is fine to tell a thin person but when your friend, who is fat and struggling with their weight asks you, I thougth she should have told me. But thats just me. I wouldn't have thought one bit less of her! My surgery is 9/17

I am sure I will tell more people (especially my family) after it's done. That way they will just have to accept me and my smaller stomach :)

I am just keeping quiet before hand so that I can make my own decision without everyone chiming in...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
