How long were you sleevers off work? I'm waiting on insurance to see if I'm accepted. I should know within a month.

I had my revision from Lapband to Sleeve on Aug 15th, 2012... I am still on disability now- I return to work on Sept 17th. I took a little extra time to get used to the new lifestyle.

Surgery was 7/23, back to work 8/6. First week back was rough, but everything is pretty much back to normal now.

I took 2 weeks, which was at least a week more than I needed. I felt great after a week. Everybody heals differently, so you will get a wide variety of answers. Good luck!

I think it depends on your job. I took 3 weeks off but I work In a hospital and am on the go for 12 hours a day, so I felt I need as much time as my dr would give me. If I worked 9-5 in an office I prob could go back after 1.5-2 weeks

I had surgery on 8/27 and went back to work on 8/30. I don't do any lifting as I work from home on the computer. I didn't feel 100% but good enough to pull a 8-5. I think a week would be a good amount of time if you have a desk job. if you do lifting or more strenuous work you may need more time.

I work with physically and mentally disabled people. Not to much lifting but some clients need help. We usually have 2 staff on during the day so we can tag team. Thank you so much for all your answers! I'm getting excited!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
