The vomiting after surg is what I'm most scared of. That can't be comfortable with all the incisions. Praying you feel better soon

Hiccups are bad too!!! I had one earlier that was so hard and unexpected that if I hadn't went potty I would have peed everywhere. Just walking around we pillow and relying on my 9 year old on errands

The vomiting has finally slowed for me, gas x strips and ice chips are what I'm living on. I am almost positive I was I my vomiting bc of the crap that's int lungs-- I was coughing so much it was making me gag and eventually vomit. Going home in a few hours. Hoping I continue to feel better and better.

Surgery went well. Only true pain was from main incision. My blood pressure was up and i ran a temp. Didn't think i was going to be able too come home but when they gave me medicine for my bp and switched me from the morphine to liquid vocodine, i felt much better. I was just discharged and on my way home

i had a hiccup earlier too and it was a horrible feeling. I had no vomiting thank god and relatively easy recovery so far. Just really sore on the incisions and i am waiting for the perk's to kick in. I just got home from the hospital at 9pm.was discharged at 8pm.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
