October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Toqu,

Sorry, I have not been on for a while. I have now lost a total of 29 pounds.(I know my ticker is not up to date) I went to the Dr. yesterday and he said all was good and that I did not have to come back until March unless I felt I needed a fill. I still have not had one yet.

My diet is simple...I eat one pkg of instant oatmeal for Breakfast. I have a couple of cups of coffee with splenda or sweet n' low. lunch is usually about 6 wheat crackers with chicken salad and about 15 baked cheetos. dinner is whatever I cook...like chicken tacos but instead of the taco shell I do everything else with low fat ranch. Or I might order pizza and just eat about half of one and the topping of the rest of it. I am going to continue as I am and hopefully I will continue to lose. I also have purchased an elliptical machine and workout about 25 - 30 minutes 5 days a week on it. Hope this helps.:)

Wow...well it doesn't sound like you are cutting carbs and you are losing because of the portion sizes. I can still eat a whole slice of NY style pizza and then some salad etc. I am not gaining so I guess thats good I am just flip flopping 3lbs around from the a.m. to p.m. but basically staying the same. The day of surgery I was 218, since then, my lowest was 212.4 and highest 215 depending on the time of day. I am going for my second fill on 12/28 so I am hoping for some dramatic results this time around.:bored

Hi my Oct Friends

Just chiming in to say I just got back from getting my haircut short and I feel great.

I have been wearing my hair long but always putting it up in a clippy thing, no style whatsoever.

I have always had these fantasies about losing all this weight and having a complete makeover like on t.v. Well, I decided I didn't want to wait to start feeling better about myself and start taking pride in my appearance.

I also had a jewelry party and bought all kinds of stuff. I normally only wear my wedding rings. So, now I have funky jewelry and a funky haircut. Hopefully by the summer I will have some funky, smaller clothes.

Have a good day all.

Every day when I put my kids on the bus I tell them "do your best and have fun". I think I will add that to my signature!

Yeah on the hair cut!

I've been thinking of getting some fun color to mine. I've had the same style for forever since i felt my face was too round for short.

not sure what to eat today for lunch since i have my first fill tomorrow. i don't know why that would matter but its all i can think about.

maybe some tuna from jimmy johns w/o the bread...

have a great day!

I feel so sad and depressed...... on many levels. Is this band going to work on me? I feel anxiety over this.... like a restless feeling. Almost as if I am paranoid that it wont work. I have to feel like this for how long? A year? Until I actually see results?

I had my first fill on Dec 5th ... he put in 1.7 cc and then put me on liquids for 3 days. All was good until the 4th day..... damn..... I figured out that I can still eat almost a whole sand, almost a whole slice of pizza... etc. I feel just a tad bit tighter. I wish he would have just put all of it in. I do not have $350 to go back- tleast not this month. (christmas and then my daughters birthday) I would feel to selfish spending it. I just feel like damn it.... this sucks. And of course the whole world seems to know that I had this amazing surgery done.... and they all ask me how much I have lost. My dumb scale keeps going up and down. The same numbers. I have no NSV. My clothes are still tight. The past 3 days all I have had was 3 slim fasts..... too mad to eat.... and then get this- when I do make a plate- I get upset cause I feel like I am wasting it. Almost as if I have to convince my body that I must eat it! and amazingly - it all goes down. Ugh! I think I will be fat forever- its got to be in my genes. ~Raynie!

Went to the DR. Monday and had my second fill. I lost 7# since last month. I was discouraged at first but then I thought at least I didn't gain any and I did go on a 7 day cruise, so I guess it wasn't that bad at all. I have lost 5# towards the christmas challange and I have 5# to go.

Raynie hon, there is nothing wrong with being able to eat a slice of pizza or a sandwich. Both of those things can be part of a healty diet. I have had one fill (1.5cc) and have found that I can eat most things as well. Don't get down on yourself and think the band won't work. It will!

Remember that we need to do as much work as the band does. If we ate nothing but junk, we could and probably would gain weight. The band helps us by keeping us full longer, and making us able to eat less (I bet you could have eaten waaay more than one slice of pizza before - I know I could), but it is our job to make sure we do our best to put healthy food in our body.

My suggestion is to use a program like Fitday to track your daily calories. This will allow you to see how many calories you are eating and where they are coming from. Also, make sure you're following the bandster rules of Protein first, then fruits & veggies, with carbs last. I'm not saying the occassional cookie or slice of pizza won't slip in the mix, but try and follow the rules most of the time.

And lastly, remember that these changes we are making won't happen overnight. You are doing a GREAT job!! Keep working at it and you will get there!

Hi Everyone! I was banded on Halloween and had my first fill today - 4cc in a 4cc band. It was not painful, just a little discomfort with the small numbing needle. They told me I was really full so take it easy today. I should have planned better on what to eat tonight - I had 2 bites of pizza, got stuck for a few minutes and I have not been hungry since. I hope to do better with that tomorrow. Being filled is going to take some getting used to for sure.

What is everyone's favorite meal?

Kimberly...4cc at once in a 4cc band?! That seems pretty aggressive! I'll be curious to see how you feel being that full. I'm only at 1.2 cc right now.

Some of my favorite meals are:

2 morningstar veggie sausages and slice of cheese

egg salad

tuna on wasa crackers

chili

cottage cheese and peaches

Some of my favorite snacks:

hummus and crackers/bell peppers

sugar free/fat free pudding with Protein Powder added

100 calorie bag of popcorn

string cheese

balance bar (peanut butter and almond brownie are my favorite)

soy nuts

Well ladies, I took y'alls advice and I have an appointment today at 1PM. I expect another fill (my second). It's strange. I don't know any of you but I'm finding that I watch October bandsters religiously. I do appreciate all that I see you girls say. Even though I got slammed earlier in the game for being a guy in a gals world. I am finding out here that it is our world. I wish I could give you all a big old bear hug! I'm excited about my appointment today. I need to stay positive about this journey. I know there will be more set backs but I also know, with y'alls support and my determination.....I'm going to win. I love you all! ...........Jimboss

Jimboss has just took control!!! There you go Jimboss, it's all about your drive, determination, and remember! This is a one day at a time thing.

Results won't happen over night "you all ready no that" so take it as it comes. If you mess up one day, you can make up for it the next. It's not

that bad. My Dr. still hasen't given me a fill. He says 4 Lbs a month is fine,

"not to me!!" and I lost 6 Lbs. . So he says he can see by the #s that I don't need a fill yet. Well he is the Dr.. So I will go with what he says.

But you sound to me like youv'e got the ball, so run with it. Shirley...:flame:

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
