October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Thanks! I am hanging in there. I did the epidurals in the spring. This is something that just likes to pop up once in a while. I am focused about the weight beign long term rather then RIGHT NOW and think it is healthy. I think the back pain is the worse thing i have ever been thru. I know you understand. It is soo frustrating bc i want to walk around, do stuff and just cant.

I will be fine. I am young (fairly) and positive ( most of the time) :D

Thanks for the encouragement!!

Hi everyone! I am a little late with getting starting on this site but better late then never. I was banded on October 31st and have lost a total of 25 pounds. I have not had a fill yet and my doctor has not recommended one because he said I was doing great without one. I am a little nervous about getting one anyway so I am a little glad it is not necessary just yet. For those of you that have had a fill did you experience any pain during or after it??

I was banded on the 31st too and I have only lost 8lbs. I have NSV's like my clothes fitting better and not having to pick what I am wearing based on if it will be too tight or uncomfortable today. I had my first fill on 11/29/06 4 weeks post-op. I feel some restriction but I can still eat whatever I want just not too much. What is your diet like? Maybe I need to try some new foods. The fill was painless so don't worry about that. I couldn't wait but now I can't wait for another one...

I have been gone for a couple weeks.. have been busy with the holidays...I have decided when I go shopping not to park close to the building or doors.. I park far away from the door.. I get extra walking in.. :) .. I have also started exercise class at the gym at my work.. My firends ask me to go to lunch.. but I have to get this weight off.. I put it on.. if I keep putting it off, I will be back where I was.. so I work out at lunch.. and then come back and eat a salad at my desk afterwards.. I am also having a hard time getting all of my fluids in.. I try but I just do not do it as I should.... I am glad to see that I am not the only one who could eat more than we should..I tell my self to stop.. working out does not mean I can eat more.. I limit myself (or atleast I try) but I feel people who know that I had surgery, are seeing what I am eating.. I went to a dinner event last night and there was a woman tha knew I had surgery.. and she got in line behind me at the buffet just so she could see what I was eating. I got a small table spoon of mashed potatoes and a small, small salad and a piece of roast beef. I gave 3/4 of the meat to my husband.. so I did not eat as much as I would have in the past.. but I feel it still was too much.. but like I said it was not like I would have ate in the past..

I can not wait till my 2nd fill.. I think I need more restriction.

I have also had small wins.. I am wearing jeans that were too tight before ..and now they are too baggy.. my husband told me to get some new jeans.. I took measurements after surgery and retook them this weekend.. and I have lost 5 inches in my waist, thighs, chest and hips.. so it is working.. if the scale is not moving the inches are coming off :clap2:

So I had my first fill today and it was pretty painless. Since I haven't had any problems eating anything and I'm hungry they gave me 1.2cc. I'm just on liquids tonight so I can't really tell a big difference yet. We'll see over the next few days...

Grrrrrr!!! I'm going the wrong direction again! Last week was my TOM and I did absolutely no exercise. On top of the fact that I still haven't had my first fill and have no restriction. I'm scheduled to get it this Thurs., so maybe next week will be better.

God Bless all of you people who weigh in weekly. I am OBSESSED with the scale and hop on it EVERY morning when I get up! Believe me, I know all the reasons I shouldn't but.......................just can't help it!

Had my first fill this morning. I don't know how much, he didn't say and I didn't ask! He started with a long needle and it was too long so we went to a smaller one. In all he stabbed me 3 times, BUT it was not painful. The only thing was that they press on your abdomen so they can get closer to the port I guess and that is uncomfortable (for me anyway since I do have an umbilical hernia).

I'm on liquids today and tomorrow. I am hungry today!

To date I've lost 32.4 lbs. I've had my BP pill cut in half.

I'm feeling like I did right after surgery as far as drinking things. I just wish it were like after surgery when I was not hungry! This too will pass and I am thankful that it is not too close to Christmas!

Thanks to all those that have had their first fills and posted, it was a big help to know what was going on. It made it much easier!

Hi Shirley - We have the same band date. I am glad you posted. I am hoping to have my fill on Dec 13th as well. Congratulations on all of your weight loss prior to having lap band surgery - that is incredible. Had you been considering surgery at even your highest weight? What is your secret in losing? Thanks again for posting and we'll have to compare notes on fills.

All of the October bandsters are really doing great and losing. I don't have a scale or I would probably become obsessed too! My first weight in since surgery will be when I go in for the 1st fill on Dec 13th - we will see. I feel like I have gained some in the past week or so - no restriction at all. Keep up the great work everyone!!

Hi everyone. I am so upset right now. Went in for my fill today and not only did I not get one they totaly unfilled me, sent me to lab for blood work, and to radiology for an ultra sound. Apparently with the really high restriction I've been having and the big weight loss and back pain my doctor thinks I could be having gall bladder problems. I am just upset. I was going along so well. My DH got another 1.5 cc's.

Three beauties. To me restriction felt like if I had any thing thicker then Water it would gurgle down. If I tried to eat it would usually get stuck in my esopagus then slime its way out. I had pretty much given up on anything but creamy stuff. I am also having a very hard time with constant hiccups, burps, and gas. They are pretty painful. And I hate to complain because I truely feel this band is a gift from God and I knew it wouldn't always be a cake walk. I just hope the test come back okay and I can get filled again soon.

Jodi

That really sucks about your unfill Jodi, but hopefully they will find out if your galbladder is ok. Let us know!

Jodi

Thanks for the reply and GOOD LUCK. I truly hope all is well so that you can get back on track. It must be so frustrating to be so mentally ready for this journey and then to hit a bump in the road physically. Hopefully, it is just a bump and you'll be back to action soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
