I had my Lap band surgery on Oct 18, 2006. I`m so sore. Right now when I eat its hard to tell if I feel full or it is just the pain from the surgury. Hope fully in a few days the pain will go. I also find myself a little short of breath when I walk even a very short distance through the house. I hope this is normal.

I had my surgery on the 17th and yes I am still very sore. I was told not to eat for 2 weeks, just my 4 Protein Drinks a day. I am giving my stomach all the time in the world for it to get better. Still short on breath but sure that is still from the surgery. Although everyone is sick here now, of course, my hubby is going to hospital now for his asmtha. so much for poor me LOL

Hi,

I too am a new October bander. My surgery was 10/06/06. I'm glad to see that there are many more of us out there. My surgery went well and I am now looking forward to having my first band fill. Probably not for another few weeks. Like the rest of you, I also ate alot of the foods that I knew were not recommended so that I would not feel cheated later. At this time I do not miss them.

I want to say congratulations to all of you for taking that step. I'm sure that you will not be disappointed. I know that I am thrilled.

Hello October Bandsters! I had my surgery on October 19th at 11:00am. I came home from the hospital yesterday (overnight stay). The only spot I feel discomfort is at the port sight. I feel real full. I think it must be gas. I can sip a little juice and thats it. Yesterday I was on Clear Liquids and I have no desire to have anything more than that today. Is that normal? I do get to shower today, Yipee! I haven't weighed myself yet to see how much I lost between the pre-op diet and now. Good luck to all the next bandsters.

Hi guys,

I just came back from doing my final preps before my big day on Monday... waxing, manicure, pedicure, drug store, etc. I've been hearing wonderful things about the Aloe Vera juice on the board. Have any of the October bandsters had it yet? I'm debating whether or not to make a quick run to see if I can find it!

On another note, my heating pad *still* hasn't arrived :D

I am banded. All went well - however I am more sore than I expected. The folks on the lap band infomercial that say they went to work the next day are liars! My port incision and the other one on the far left are quite sore. The others are pretty much fine. The not being able to turn over to sleep is annoying. I hate sleeping on my back. Now I feel all stiff.

I am able to stand up straight today, though. I had to stay in the hospital an hour or two longer than expected, too, as I didn't "tinkle" quickly enough.

I am gurgling like crazy! Full of beef broth and gatorade. When did you guys start to feel "normal" again? The doctor wants me to walk, but I don't even want to get dressed. Maybe I'll just get on the treadmill. I walked around in the backyard this morning, but the doc says that doesn't count - he wants a walk around the block. Maybe tomorrow...

Congratulations to all newly banded and good luck to those being banded in a few days.

Denise2: I had absolutely NO appetite the first week I was banded. 1/4 cup of Jello kept me full for hours. It was great. My appetite came back in the 2nd week and that's when I started paying attention to what I was eating. I wish my appetite hadn't come back so soon. But I feel great and was able to go back to work after the first week, so that's a plus.

Momotrips I completely agree that the surgery was worse than I thought it was. It took me a full week to feel better. I was still sore the second week, but felt much better. That first week I never walked farther than to the bathroom. lol. Just focus on getting some rest and you'll get there. I"m three weeks out and have felt 100% for quite a while.

MOmotrips-

I too thought i would be carrying on after a day or two. No way! I was miserable for a week. Not in agony after the first three days but still very sore, hungry, confused, not wanting to leave bed where i could lay down. Sitting felt too weird. But I am at day 9. I am on my mushies (lucky me) but i am doing much better. Still get little attacks when i first stand or roll over too quick but it passes. Everyone heals differently and i guess my body is being difficult. I is MUCH better then a few days ago (which seems like ages)

Stay calm, get rest, moving around the house is STILL MOVING.... and i promise it does help.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
