October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

For the first 7 days after surgery I could care less about eating. I wasn't hungry, and when I did eat I would maybe have 1/2 a pudding cup or a few sips of broth. Then one day, my hunger came back - just like that. Those next 5 or so days were really tough. It has gotten a bit easier now that I am on my third week out on liquids, but I am looking forward to moving to mushies/soft food. I find I'm ok when I've had something to eat, but if I'm hungry I dream of cooking all these elaborate meals. lol. But I agree that we will all have to face our own demons with food and that our journeys will be similar, but different at the same time. That is what is so great about having a site like this for support!

Yes, I still have some port discomfort, especially when I bend over. Just a few days ago I was able for the first time to sleep on my port side and this morning I was able to be on my stomach for a little bit. Port discomfort in the beginning is totally normal so I'm told.

For ticker factory, you need to copy the first code "bbc" and copy and paste the entire URL address. Every time you need to update your weight you have to re-copy and paste into your LBT signature.

I lost 12 pounds in the first week, and then nothing in the second week. I have lost another 2 pounds since Sunday, so it looks like the scale is moving again. I know once I start mushies/soft food next Monday my weight loss will likely stall. But that is when I want to start kicking up the excercise, so hopefully that will help.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Good luck to those who are getting banded soon!

Someone asked about visual models to show your loss.

Go to

my virtual model, then hit on levi strauss, you can show yourself what you look like now in jeans and what you will look like. You can change you face, hair etc. It is fun to see what the changes will look like. they are very right on.

You can save them too but i cant remember how.

Hi Everyone - I hope all of October Bandster Family is doing well! I received my surgery date - it is Monday, October 23, 2006.

No special diet prior to the procedure, but I've been advised to add the Protein supplement immediately. Fast 24 hours prior to procedure and it will be done on an outpatient basis.

Everyone is doing so well!! Can you believe that Oct is half over??

I found out today that I get to take my fancy camera pill on Wednesday!! I had to kind of be a bitch to the nurse because she was trying to schedule me for next week (the week of my surgery), but she fit me in on Wednesday. I think she just wanted to get rid of me. :) But hopefully, this will find the source of my mystery bleeding and I can still have surgery on Oct 26. I'm counting down!

Good luck Jess! Chug that sucker down! We'll be waiting to see how you get on with the test. Hugs.:)

Hey everyone, I am home. Surgery went well on Monday thw 16th. I was nervous but do not remember a thing until I woke up in recovery. I was on morphine for pain and my blood pressure dropped to 82/64 overnight. I rested off and on all night and this morning had the xray, then some tea and Soup and then came home today. I am not in pain, jut feel sore like I have done a bunch of sit ups. I am on liquids for 2 weeks. Tell me this guys, do the liquids go right through you or are you suposed to feel full after like 1/4 cup of broth etc?

I found that the liquids did make me full, but it took more than 1/4 cup right from the start. Just take it VERY slowly, to give your body time to react. If you rush it, you WILL puke (as I found out in hospital!).

Cootie,

I actually called my doctor today cause everything does go right through me he said it was normal and will get better I am 5 days out. Its so strange how I go from so hungry and eating 1/4 cup of Soup and then so full. I am looking forward to adding a few things in another week. Congratulations on your surgery!

Wow! Sounds like everyone is doing well thus far. Congrats to all of you!

I had my pre-op appt today. Everything is a go for Monday! While the Dr. does not require a pre-op diet, I put myself on one. Nothing fancy, just the two Slimfast's a day and a small dinner. It's working though! I've lost 18 pounds so far! Woo Hoo!

I remembered to ask the Dr. for the Rx so I could have it filled and ready when I get home from the hospital. I have liquid Loritab for pain and some little pills for nausea.

As the date gets closer, I am getting more excited and more nervous... Hope to have the same experience as all of you.

I'm so glad that everyone has been sharing their experiences along this journey! It has been a big help in overcoming my nerves!

BTW - sounds like you're nesting - well, I suppose in a way, you are about to become (rather than have) a bandbaby!!! hehehe!

Hello October Bandees!

I have a question for the early bandees, does anyone who was banded at the beginning of the month still have pain? I do. I am assuming this is normal.

I discovered if I use the Better than Boullion chicken and a spoonful of organic babyfood mixed vegetables it makes a yummy Soup for the early liquid days. I also discovered Unsweetened chocolate Almond milk. This stuff is great! A little sweetner and it's 45 calories for a nice treat. Protein can be added to make a Protein Shake as well.

I get mushy food at the end of this week! Yea!

Good luck to all our upcoming bandees and congrats to the ones who have made it through.

Jess

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
