I can't believe really how many people are having this surgery. One place I debated and kindly declined and said " our list is completely full and someone will be excited to take your place". Initially I felt it was a bit snarky, now I think she wasn't kidding!

Hi my name is Shawn (female). My paperwork was sent to the insurance company on Friday. I am hoping for a date in October. I have Achalasia so I have to have Heller Myotomy Surgery and the Sleeve done on the same day if all goes well with the Heller Myotomy. Prayers please! I am so hoping when I wakeup in the recovery room they tell me they did both surgeries. If they can't do both, they will do the Heller and I will go back in 6 to 8 weeks for the sleeve. I am very excited and can't wait to start this journey! Dr. Podkameni will be doing my surgery in Arizona. Hugs and blessing to all of you!

We are in the same boat. Ins papers out to insurance co. on Friday, now the waiting game. i wont call until next friday, being a nurse, I hate to pester. just have to be patient and hope for the best. The sooner the date, the better, but I know there is a 3-4 week wait with a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I am starting a pre-pre-op diet tomorrow.

Yesterday i was having doubts, I'm just worried about waking up in excruciating pain that isn't easily controlled with pain meds. I have a high tolerance when it comes to pain but I still find myself getting nervous.

I have read sooo many posts and a very small number have said they had a lot of pain. Most said they had a general gassy discomfort, but most did not use up their pain meds. A doctor must manage pain adequately. Its their job. Generally, women have a higher pain tolerance (most, not all!) but you mentioned you've got a pretty decent pain tolerance, so I think you're gonna rock this thing! Some mentioned bringing liquid Tylenol (kids, I guess?) but always ask the surgeon before taking anything :-)Good luck, keep us posted :-)

October 23 with dr cheung in Boston! Very excited. A little nervous, not so much about the surgery but being able to take care I my 3 boys (4yr old twins and a 17 month old) as quickly as possible after. Had VERY quick recoveries after both my csections so hoping this will be the same! Great to see so many others!

I am counting down-30 days from today. I fell down some stairs last weekend and wrecked my knee-just another sign that I need to get this weight off. I am on crutches and am not able to exercise. I was starting to get in more exercise so that would be one less change I needed to make.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
