What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

Right now I am currently unfilled due to being dangerously too tight. I go back for a fill in a week. I was at 3.2cc up until two weeks ago and I was banded in March. I think perfect restriction for me is around 2.5ccs. I was filled to 2.7 and felt fine but once I got past 3ccs I started having problems keeping food down and was irritating my esophagus.

I'm having a hard time keeping track of my fill amount because my doc wasn't sure of my first one then my second fill was even more weird. First fill the doc didn't remember what the nurse put in the syringe so he said I had anywhere from 1 to 1.5 so I called it 1.25. When I went in for my second fill he said he only pulled out .5 cc...where the other .75 went is beyond me but he said I should expect some evaporation or some to be caught up in bubbles because he did pull out some air as well? He put the .50 back in and another 1.0 cc. So right now I'm at anywhere from 1.5 to 2.25. Aweful long range there I know. I am very restricted though so I have feeling I'm closer to the 2.25 than the 1.5. I am 7 months out.

2.4cc. But, I am well under goal weight, and am considering an unfill of .4 if I don't stop losing.

ETA; Banded for 19 months.

Hijack - Aussie Chick,

Now that you are goal or under goal, what would a typical day of eating be like for you? Did your 19 months of being banded teach/train you to "eat to live" instead of "live to eat"?

I tried to glance to see if you had anything like that in your journal, however, journal seems to still be deactivated.

I don't really think about food the way I did before. I enjoys quality foods, rather than quantity (I would rather have 1 piece of quality salmon, than 75 fish fingers, if you get what I mean)

But really, I guess, I just worked out the deeper issues I had in life, and as a result, I was able to get control of my eating.

I was told that its possible to crave foods that you never craved before and that some foods you just don't want to eat anymore......did you experience any of that??

I read that people now snack...yikes I don't do that now, I certainly don't want to do it after being banded!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
