Tastes Like...vomit?

Recommended Posts

3 months out, and the "natural" taste (spit and stuff I guess?) tastes like vomit. I'm not throwing up, but my bm have been really loose. (sorry!!) bit of background, I had a leak, stent to fix it was removed about 2 weeks ago. I'm on primarily liquids but a touch of mushies (experimenting, even though I'm only supposed to be on full liquids again but I'm legit hungry tummy grumble and all!). Average day= Vitamin Water xxx, a freezer pop, 1/2 a cup sf pudding, and a tbs or 2 thoroughly chewed to liquod ground beef. I "eat" slow enough and wait my 30 mins before/after. I get my 3oz of liquid in per hour (as per drs order) and sometimes more, can't seem to quench the thirst. What's going on? I'm afraid of another complication, it's just been one after the other :(

Tummy grumbling is not hunger, but probably acid. Spit coming back up that tastes like vomit is most likely acid reflux. I would call your doctor to be sure (given your other complications) Since you are still on liquids per his orders, he may prescribe Prevacid solutabs (acid reducer). Otherwise, if you are cleared for pills, you can get Prilosec or Prevacid over the counter at your local pharmacy without a prescription. I hope you feel better soon!

PS, BM is loose since you are still on liquids for the most part. That will change (and not always for the better) once you get to eat solid foods. Also, acid reducer takes a couple of days to take it's full effect so do not worry if you are still having problem the day you take it.

Try some cream Soup it will fill you up better but not to much. Also I will hold Water in my mouth for a few seconds and it helps with the thirst. (I like real cold water). I am 6 months out and have trudged thru the rough times but It is so worth it. Keep up the good work!!

I'm not sure about this, but what you are likely tasting is the effects of Ketosis. I can't brush my teeth enough. It's an unfortunate side effect of weightloss.

Thank you (: Im already on a PPI 40mg/day, maybe it's not enough? Also wondering if maybe its that my esophogas flap doesn't close all the way since my stent stretched things and since where the leak was, it held it open for 5 weeks and by the end dug into it, I'll have to ask my dr.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
