I was worried too but my doc insisted that if I follow the preop diet it would. He said he can tell as soon as he gets in if the person cheted on the diet or not.

I did not have this happen but my doctor did tell me that if he opens me up and notices my liver is in bad shape then he would back out. I have hep-c though. All went well tho and he said my liver looked great.

The past two days I have hardly nothing to eat. I have a banana, SF Jello, 3 pieces of sliced ham and dry tuna. I plan on not eating nothing these next 6 days just Protein Water and Sf jello. Do you think my liver will be shrunk enough

This is nuts...FOLLOW YOUR DOCTORS PLAN! There is no need to guess and all docs are different. Just do what your doctor asked you to do. Starvation actually will backfire on you!

I got to agree with Iggychic...follow our doctor's plan and you won't have a problem. If you can have cream Soups, I was really liking the cream of potato and cream of corn soups. Funny cause since surgery I haven't had any. Just the thought of them makes me gag.

So there is the great difference between docs plans. I can NOT have cream Soups as I am far too limited by my carb requirements to even touch the stuff and yet as I type this I am just finishing a lovely glass of Pinot noir. I'm totally on plan as I'm sure the butter man has been as well. Follow your doctors plan!

I would not go overboard and starve yourself. Follow your doctor's instructions to a T and you will be just fine =) Many of us have even had slips pre-op and still been alright. There's not much you can do other than follow directions, so try not to get yourself too worked up.

The only pre-op diet I had to do was Clear Liquids for 3 days as well as no Vitamins during that time. That was enough time for my liver to 'shirnk' enough for surgery. As long as you follow your doctors orders and don't cheat you should be fine. I worried about every little thing before my surgery and everything ended up fine. Good Luck!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
