What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

  • Popular Post

What was the final thing that you encountered that made you say this is enough? I have had numerous.

1. Leaving a wife and 2 sons, Husbandless and fatherless.

2. Not being able to get on amusement park rides with my sons.

3. Not being able to take my wife to a concert, because i could not fit in a seat.

4. Avoiding restuarant, movie theaters and sports complexes with tiny seats.

For me, walking through a a department store and some little child looking at me like im a alien had to be one the hardest things.

Respectfully,

Joe

Losing around 40 lbs. (the most I'd ever managed to lose by far) and then gaining it all back within a year or two plus another 20 lbs. (and that number kept going up) for good measure. I felt like I just couldn't do it - my whole life I've dreamt of finally conquering my weight issues and one day being a really small size (and staying there), but I finally realized that under normal circumstances, it just wasn't going to happen. In tha time period, a family acquaintance called my mother- he, his wife, and kids were all always massively obese, and they all had DS (wonder if they got a family rate?) and were all doing amazingly well. He and his wife were finally able to fly abroad (before that they would have needed 2 or maybe 3 seats) to the country we live in and that's when they gave us a call. My mother told me all about his call and suggested that I might want to look into it - till then WLS had never crossed my mind (I never thought I was heavy enough for it, and I actually wasn't really until that last weight loss + subsequent gain) but after thinking about it and researching the whole thing for quite a while, decided that this was probably the only option left for me. When the surgeon saw all my bloodwork etc. and informed me that I was in pre-diabetic stage, I knew that I had made the right choi

Turning into a hermit and not wanting to be seen.. Giving up of life and love

Sadly that was me too, I'm so glad I did it, I feel like I have been given second chance at life, love and happiness.

Thank you were are you trying to have it done

Mine was after a bad break up from a 16 year relationship being told to leave my home in PA to go back to where I grew up in Brooklyn N Y. I gained 78 pounds from going into deep depression. Also have very bad lipedema in both my legs causing me pain and unable to walk like I want to. I'm still in my process with the clearances for my surgery. I hoping to have surgery in nov, Dec the latest.

I took my daughter to the Zoo, I had to say no to several small rides because weight limits were under 200lbs. Missing out on fun experiences and bonding with my daughter. Watching my sister take her on the marry go round. I don't want to let it happen again

I weigh 255lbs and I have arthritis, and balance issues, I'm afraid if I fall my husband wouldn't be able to help me because of his physical issues. I need assistance with simple things.
One day I was looking through some pictures of a family gathering, wen I realized that my view from chest down was deceiving, I thought I had a muffin top, when I saw the pictures I seen the whole bakery with a basement going on.
I have been able to lose weight but never have been able to maintain , used to be muscular and would tell everyone that there was a lot of muscle weight included in my bmi. I realize things need to change so I'm starting my journey on the 22nd of Sept.

I have so many, but the final straw that literally made me schedule an appointment was when my Job hired a new executive over my department after firing my boss and she asked me to stay after her introductory team meeting. I distinctly remember feeling my heart sink because I just knew it was going to be bad. She told me people had made complaints that they could see my stomach underneath my shirt and that I needed to buy longer shirts. I have had my feelings hurt a lot in my life being overweight, but this was one of my worst moments. I remember holding back tears and trying to make it seem like I wasn't upset, but I literally could've walked out of her office that day and quit. It happened on a friday and I spent all weekend doing research and on Monday morning I called a Doctor and made an appointment for consultation.
