When I was doing my research on WLS, I ran across a physician website that had something unusual. (Sorry, I didn't make a note of the URL but will try & find it again!)

They gave their WLS patients a card they could present to the wait staff that said 'John Doe is a patient at the Blank Clinic & has had weight loss surgery; for that reason, please allow him / her to order smaller portions or from the children's menu.'

I thought this was a great idea! Has anyone else seen this or think it would be useful?

Yes my surgeon gave us that card but I have yet to have to show it. I believe servers are aware now days of wls and/or food restrictions so much that they are happy to help you order what you need.... But it is nice to have... :)

My surgeon gives those, I don't use it. It's not something I feel comfortable whipping out. I really don't care for the choices on the kids menu. I just order on the menu and take home the leftovers.

Yes, I received those from my surgeon too. I will probably keep 1 in my purse just in case....but most likely will do the same as Chitowngirl and order regular meal, take home leftovers for later. But, if I need it....I will use it!

I think the majority of surgeons have started giving those out - at least it seems to have increased a lot in the last 2 - 4 years. My surgeon gives them out but I don't use it.

Like the others.... I have one as well... Talks about the procedure that I have had, it has my picture on it, my surgery day weight, Dr. info, etc... It's actually a very nice card... BUT.... never had to use it... I look at it as a souvenier and a reminder of my surgery day. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
