Any Buffalo Ny Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I'm also a buffalo sleever, had Dr Cavaretta thru Synergy back in March! Doing great down about 70lbs have another 30 to go before I feel truly accomplished. Started around 235 & felt gastric bypass was to extreme. I had laproscopic surgery so my recovery was super quick. I've had no problems through this entire journey & it scares me that I can eat everything...not a lot of food, just that I can eat anything & have no side effects. I used to use my fitness pal & really need to get back on track with it. As far as Protein Shakes I'm bad and have slacked with those as well...I need to start tracking like crazy again to avoid getting those bad habits back.

I agree, I'm not the best tracker, but I try to be cognizant of what I'm eating because I don't want to go back to where I started. I try to stay away from Protein Shakes because I'm not a powder or shakes type of person so I try to eat Protein rich foods. I've only lost 22 lbs, but it's a start. I'm on week 5. How long did it take for you to lose all the weight and how did you do it.

I always try to watch what I eat & if I have a sweet its by far less then I ever had before. My entire lifestyle has changed. No couch potato here! I have to young kids so I spent the summer very active & I try to go to thr gym if not the gym then at least a walk or some extra scrubbing to my house to stay active. I try not to weigh myself a lot, maybe once every 1-2 weeks. I pay attention to my clothing fit more than #. I've also been more thrifty with shopping & not buying new clothes since I change so frequently! Before surgery I had bought my first pair of size 20's an all time low...well I just bought a thrifty pair of 12's and grinned ear to ear! Not sure about the rest of you but I've been selling all my old clothes on ebay & using that money to replace my wardrobe. Its saved me tons!

I have a very supportive husband who has benefited by our healthier eating as well!

I love when people see me & say WOW you look great! I just say thanks!

That's great to hear. I noticed my weight loss was slowing down during soft/puréed foods stage and someone told me they started losing more when they ate regular foods. Did that happened to you? I've noticed it with me recently. Starting to pick up again.

Yes, I'm so glad I had the sleeve done!!! If, time was rolled back, knowing what I know now I'd make the same choice. My only regret is if I had followed through when I first completed the seminar, I'd be about a year out right now! For all you will go through it's so worth it!!! Who are you going through? Good Luck on your journey!!! Let us know how you're doing and don't be a stranger:)

I am now 8 weeks post op and couldn't be happier. My doctor was/is amazing, and has a very supportive staff too. I did not experience any kind of pain or set backs either. Go for it!

Yes hun.. I had my surgery on July 17th... Dr. Posner did it' date=' and l feel absolutely anazing.. I am down 36 lbs in 4 weeks now.. I can be a great support person for you, just ask... It is good to have local peeps to talk to[/quote']

I too had dr posner. My sleeve was done 10/10/12. I'm from Attica. I like the fact that you can call Jeannie any time you have a question. They seem to slide you right along with advancing the diets. I wish some one would call and check how you were doing.

I am down from 254 to 198. while i was happy for the 55 pound loss I have been at a stand still for almost two months. I really need to get into a workout routine. Its nice to find support in your own city :D

Hello, I live near UB North Campus, I dont really have a work out program that is what i am trying to get into now because i know that is why my weight has stalled for so long. I live in Buff and work in the falls and I find myself falling back into that rute of not being able to find the time to work out. so for now it will just be biggest loser dvds 3 days a week but i need something else that will make me be accountable for working out. how has your weight loss been so far and how do you stay on tract with working out?

I was just cleared on Wednesday for Water exercises and strength training/toning. I'm looking at LA Fitness, but, have to see what my insurance covers. The YMCA is covered, so we'll see. I'm still losing weight, glad about that and haven't had a stall. I'm so glad I had the surgery, because I didn't realize how bad I was feeling physically. Didn't have to use my walker when I went to my last appointment, just my cane!!! Didn't get out of breath, didn't need to sit and rest, just moved right along!! I also live and work in the North Buffalo area. Now I have to make time to fit in a structured exercise program! BTW, I had Dr. Hoffman also. Good to hear from neighbors:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
