Constipation

Is anyone out there (I am 6 weeks post op tomorrow) suffering from extreme constipation? I know this is TMI, but I feel like I am so backed up that anything I eat is now just sitting at the top of my sleeve and if I wanted to throw up I could. I can't take this. I am miserable. I am taking stool softeners (2 twice a day). I have held my iron for about 5 days now as well to see if that made things improve.

Only thing that works for me, and I've tried it ALL, is milk of magnesia and lots of water after.

I have a nurse friend who swears by lactulose syrup for all of her constipated patients. I have been doing two colace a day and miralax at night with minimal results. I have developed some lactose intolerance with milk so I have thought about making a protein drink with milk, but haven't been brave enough to try it.

Might want to consult the Doc. He may order a KUB to make sure there is no impaction. How many days have u had no BM? Anyway best to be safe and consult your Dr.

Have any of you tried Smooth Move tea? It is made by Traditional Medicinals, I believe. It comes in three flavors and tastes good. I make 2 bags in one cup and drink it hot. Usually works the next day, if not, I drink it again. My husband uses it all the time too. I have issues but I have not tried the tea yet. I will do that this weekend. If that won't work, I will get MOM .
