Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I know everyone is different but im having surgery on August 21st and Im trying to figure out if anyone had a specific diet/lifestyle that they follow... i dont want to go back to eating terrible after my surgery....I know people who have and I dont want to be like that!!!! but I also dont really know how to eat healthy!

does anyone, or can anyone, tell me their day-by-day/ meal-by-meal plan? im worried that if I dont know what I'm doing that I will fail, and i CANNOT fail....

I have the determination, the will-power but I'm missing the guidance!

please help,

thanks!

I'm 3-4 weeks. I start normal food on Thursday. I've been following a whole foods approach (with a focus on protein) as much as possible. I've always wanted to and since surgery I've lost most interest in food so it's been easier. :) I started soft food last Thursday. I've had ultra thin turkey slices with hummus (and ranch when I ran out of hummus).

I hope that helps. You'll find what works for you.

what do you do for Breakfast? Snacks? I'm trying to get different ideas....I don't want to "loose interest" in my soft foods (eating it too often)

Thank you!

I am still on liquids right now (9 days post op) but check out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Shellys site is very inspirational with TONS of recipes that are WLS friendly and lots of ideas on how to mix it up and not get bored.

Im a bit of a planner, so I have a binder full of printed recipes from this site and a couple of others separated into phases and then what type of food it is, ie Breakfast, dinner, snack, etc. I know what you mean though, it does help to be prepared...it is just another tool to use in our battle if we know what we are doing. Hope this helps some...

My diet is very Protein filled. I am on full diet now so I can eat anything my sleeve can tolerate. Here's some ideas for you once you get off restricted diet:

eggs (fixed any way), high Protein Cereal, yogurt, cottage cheese, meat (any low fat kind you can think of), cheese, veggies, fruit, Peanut Butter, nuts & seeds, beef jerkey, Pork rinds, Beans, Protein Bars. With all the different kinds,of meat and all the meat recipes out there, you should never get bored.

Oh. And you don't have to eat Breakfast food for breakfast. I've been know to have deli meat roll ups that I put pieces of string cheese or laughing cow cheese in.

Good luck to you!

I eat 800 cal per day with <40 carbs and as much Protein as possible which is usually 60-90 grams. I eat a lot of cheese and meat at this point. Some eggs and Protein Bars or cottage cheese. At this point I can eat 2-3 oz of food at a time or 1/2 cup.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
