Checking in this morning I weighed at 187, my sw was 265.4 on 11-27. I'm working out, and spend about three hours at the gym, five days a week, an hour on the treadmill and do a mix of an hour of yoga, an hour of zumba or Water aerobics. Still only at about 600 calories a day, at the most I can fit in about 800. I'm burning on average about 1200 calories a day at the gym. Almost to a size 12 now!! Hip hip...

I had my 3 month f/u yesterday (it has been 4 months since surgery 11/1). I've only lost 38 so I am one of the slow losers. I have been in a fluctuating stall for a few weeks now. My dr said I can do a 2 day liquid diet to kick start my weightloss again. He said it will shock my body and get me going. He also said that I must walk everyday. It doesn't matter how fast, just to do a mile everyday. He said that is the key to keep the weightloss going. Overall he said I'm doing great.

Sw 220

Today 183

From size 18 to 12/14

BMI from 43 to 35 in 4 months

I'm happy with my results and my increased energy. And I am loving to shop now. :)

38lbs is a great loss :) I started out around the same weight as you I am short though 5'2 idk how tall you are. At my 3 month (actually 3.5) check up I was down 51 total but 43 since surgery and my surgeon was happy with my progress. I am 4.5 months out now and down 9 more lbs. The scale is going in the right direction your 38lbs will be 50lbs soon enough just keep on keepin on :)

Good day "losers"! I am 4 months post op and 75 lbs down and went from size 3x-4x (26/28 ) clothing to 1x (18/20). Wooohoooo!!!! Feeling great and loads of energy. Working out at least 4-5 times per week. I'm still struggling to get all my Water in, and am averaging 800-900 calories per day.

Every once in a while I get that hungry feeling. :(. Anybody else experiencing hunger at this stage in the game?

Hi I had sx on 11/20 and I'm a slow loser too but a loser! I started at 212# and I'm down now to 171#. My dr said since I didn't start with a lot of weight it's normal to lose it slower than others who have more weight to lose. I'm down from a size 20 to a 15...most of my weight is in my belly:-( congrats on ur weightloss!! We have to keep motivated with every lb we lose:-)

Everyone is doing wonderful!!! And so am I!!!! Today, I am ALMOST to onederland! Haven't seen Onederland for 5 years. I was there briefly with my lap band. But, my future is bright and I WILL make goal this year!

The past couple weeks have been very frustrating for me. I was eating right, started working out with my trainer 2x a week and swimming or walking 2-3x a week. I had started on progesterone cream to help with hormone balance through a nurse practitioner. Well, after almost 30 days on that, I began to feel like I was pregnant. My breasts swelled and felt tender and the scale not moving. Keep in mind, I had been tested and diagnosed that I did have an imbalance and not enough progesterone. Well, I started thinking, maybe I'm not losing because I have too much progesterone now. So, I called and she said that seems my body took to the cream a little too good. So, she told me to stop it for 2 weeks and then do half the dosage. So, since stopping a little over a week ago, I have lost 4 lbs!!! I knew that I had to be losing even though the scale was not going down. So, I may wait until May for her to test me again, because as I'm losing I am thinking that the estrogen in my body is also reducing, so it is going to be hard to keep an appropriate balance of hormones.

I thought I would share this story to also encourage some of you who may experience gain during the month due to the fluctuation of your hormones and that "time of the month". Drink all your Water and more. I was told to do half my body weight in Water every day. Can't say I always do that, but I certainly do over 64 oz a day!! My next post will be when I step into ONEDERLAND!!! Keep up the good work everyone!! We are such LOSERS....LOL!!!!!

I do get the hungry feeling at times. It's just I'm used to eating 5-6 small meals that when I can't I do sometimes feel hungry. There are days I could go all day without food or Water. Water is a struggle for me also:-( if I drink a lot then I'm low on Protein because I'm always full. It's awesome how much weight you've lost!! Congrats!! I'm a slow loser but have lost 41# since sx and 53# from my hw. Dr says I'm on track so I'm not complaining!

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?
      1. NickelChip

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
