Five Days Post Op. Doing Great!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I was freaking out a week ago and got some really nice messages from folks reassuring me. The surgery went well. I was only in a lot of pain the night of the surgery but I still got up and walked the halls in the hospital.

I'm following a liquid diet but have to admit I'm craving something to chew on. Has anyone "cheated" by eating something they weren't supposed to? I have to be on liquids another week and I don't know if I can go that long without having at least a piece of toast. LOL

Also wishing for a piece of toast, but honestly, getting food particles stuck in the staple line would so NOT be worth it. It's only a short time, and you have the rest of your like to enjoy eating responsibly. Give your body the time it needs to heal without shooting yourself in the foot. I for one will NOT be cheating on my doctor's plan. Just because somebody else may have cheated in the past with no complications is no guarantee that you or I will fare similarly.

Nah, I wasn't going to "cheat" by eating toast. I was just wondering if anyone else was tempted. In a way, I'm glad that I have the craving for something to eat. That means that everything is healing as it should.

I'm a good patient. I'll follow what the doc tells me to do.

Suger Free Popsicles where allowed by my doc on clears and full liquid stage, they took care of my need to chew/have something other than liquid in my mouth. Maybe you could try those! BTW you can do this!!!

Mmmm, popsicles. I'll have my friend run by the store to get me some. I can also eat Jello which I haven't done yet. He also said I can have a small spoonful of sugar-free pudding or greek yogurt.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
