So Many Complications, Can't Keep Anything Down.

Recommended Posts

So frustrated. Sleeved on July 17. Had many complications during surgery, lost my IV, surgeon said my hiatal hernia was so bad that after he fixed it, there wasnt much stomach left so almost had to bypass me instead. (did sleeve, but took nearly 91% of my stomach) 3 weeks later and I still can't keep anything down. 150g of Protein? ? HA! be lucky if I can keep 5g down. My throat is swollen and sore and anytime i try to eat ANYTHING, it gets stuck in my throat. I try to wash it down just to vomit the liquid. I put myself of liquids only again, but even they don't stay down. Now I think my body has hit starvation mode because I'm not losing. I'm so frustrated and don't know what to do :( Yes, I've talked to my surgeon but he said my body must be more "sensitive to this procedure" than most and to give it time. idk.... :( feeling lost

Very sry you are going thru this & will be praying for you. I knw it must be hard but dont get frustrated, you will loose. Remember for just a normal surgery, it takes time before your stomach can heal & intake food so with your complications, it may take more time for adjustment. Keep your head up.

My surgery was 7/9 & I'm in the hospital right now writing this. I have developed a bacterial infection in my colon & have C diff.. I went to the ER last night cuz I have had difficulty eating & drinking anything. I felt I was dehydrated & was hoping to get some fluids. They did ct scans & said my surgery looks good but may have picked up the infection in Mexico.

I have such a hard time getting food & fluids in! I know exactly how you feel. I Am hoping things improve for you & me..

Take care.

I also had my surgery on the 17th...I'm so sorry your having such a difficult time.

I'll be thinking of you. I can say I still feel swollen and bloated 3 weeks out. I don't think I'm like some that the swelling goes down quickly.

Keep us posted!

I have gallbladder liver issues along with dehydration issues. I've gone to the er every week since my surgery on June 26. I am going to a specialist for my liver and gallbladder. I've never in life had these many issues. At times I have issues drinking and eating. Im on meds for pain, nausea, and gallbladder .

Im slow to recover. I had a blood transfusion like 3 weeks ago bc I was losing so much blood. That caused me to have shortness of breath. Iv lost over 50 lbs. I don't regret surgery because Im off all medications like high blood pressure and insulin meds.

God and many prayers have helped. At one point I thought I was going to lose my mind. Each day it gets better. Im praying no er visits this week or the next.

Im praying that you get better.

Thanks for all your replys.. Ihad surgery with Dr Garcia but I don't really blame him. you can get c diff from taking antibiotics, I guess they knock out all the good stuff in you & you are susceptible to getting other kind of infections.

I just want to start feeling better!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
