Hey everyone,

I was sleeved on 8/1 and released from the hospital 8/2. That night I came home I went for a walk. The next morning I went for a walk but was so tired from not sleeping the night before so I took a nap. I eventually went out to target to walk a bit because it's so humid out. What are some other things you did post op. I'm afraid of resting too much

Why are you afraid of resting too much? You should be getting rest - that is when your body heals best. You don't need to sleep the day away but don't be afraid of rest.

I guess just afraid of blood clots. My bf had to get surgery on his leg for a broken tib and fib in his left leg and of course got a blood clot. I just want to make sure I'm walking enough

I had surgery on the 7/30. I am still quite sore on my incision sites, and really have zero energy. I get up every couple of hours and just do a lap around the house, or just walk around. Otherwise I am resting on the couch. And I take a midday nap (and I'm NOT a napper - so that's very strange for me). The first week you can overdo it. Don't worry and let yourself heal.

Sleeved on 7/30 and am taking my time . I'm balancing taking walks around house and outside with resting. Staying on top of Protein intake and Water is my focus. Still sore but getting stronger everyday!

Hello I was sleeved on 8/1 and came home yesterday. I'm having a hard time getting in enough liquids. I get up to go to the bathroom and walk around a fee times. Take it easy don't try to rush recovery.

Is anyone having gas pains in your shoulders? I was sleeved 7/31 discharged yesterday and started having pains in my shoulder at the base of my neck. It didn't start till today so wasn't for sure if it's normal. It happens the most when I lay down.

I have had a few. I find that if I get up and walk around the gas pain tends to go away. The surgeon told me that the bubbles move up your body if you lay down, which is part of the reason that they want you to walk.

Walking in really good; also, when you are sitting or lying just pump your ankles and do circles. That keeps the blood moving. (Like you'd do on an airplane.) You're doing great!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
