I am not getting in my 64 ounces of Water or my Protein, also, I'm having a hard time with these Vitamins. I'm 2 weeks out and can only take 1 sipp every 7 minutes. If I try to do more I am in extreme pain. I feel as though I am not progressing and I am very frustrated. Although my Doc said it was to early to think this way, I am frequently asking myself, what have I done? :(

I am sorry you are having issues. There's a couple of things you can do to help you get your Fluid in. Try changing the temp of the liquid. I could only do room temperature or warmer. broth and tea were my saviors. Also, take a shot glass, or something else that is about an ounce, (I was given med cups) and make sure you are trying to drink one every 15 minutes. That's 4 oz an hour. In 16 hours, you will have your 64 oz. It's a job at first to get fluid.. Heck, I still miss my goal on many days. Just make sure you're not already dehydrated.

The "what have I done" thought, most know it well. It will get better. You're still swollen and freshly cut. I am 3 months out and almost forgot about the beginning. Good luck honey. It will get better.

It gets better!! My first couple weeks I was miserable for the same reason. Sometimes I questioned what I had done to myself thinking life would never be the same and that eating and drinking had become a full time job. You are still healing and your stomach is swollen inside leaving you very little room for more than just a trickle of Water or broth at a time. Don't worry so much about your Protein at this point (you will be able to gradually increase that over time) but focus on your fluids. Broth, Protein Shakes and other liquids count as fluids, so remember to count that in your 64 oz. I found warm broth went down much easier than water for a while (although I had to keep reheating it because it took me so long to drink) I hated my protein shakes for the first couple of weeks, but that has gotten better. I could only drink about 4 oz (which I had to build up to) and that would take 30-40 minutes. It still takes me 30 mins to drink a Protein Shake, but now I can do the whole thing. I am eight weeks out. Drinking water becomes MUCH easier as time goes on. Hang in there. You are at a challenging stage, but each week gets easier!

Thanks Star and Tracey, it has been really tough and I know that it will get better. I get to start puree's today and I am so imtimadated about putting something more than something to drink in my mouth, hell, the liquids scare me because of the fesr of pain. I'm trying t take it one day at a time, just struggling in the process. I have been crying and praying at the same time pretty much nonstop.

Don't rush it. If you Don't feel like you're ready, wait a few days. I was on liquids a month. Now I can eat anything and haven't had one problem. Take it slow. Your body will let you know. Good luck honey :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
