Finally went in today to get my A1C level checked again I will get my results next week hopefully my numbers are low enough so I can join the loser bench soon

MsInzee2010

my A1C level was always good, surgeon never mentioned anything about trying to improve sugars pre-WLS

surgeon told me that the longer you've been diabetic, your chances aren't as good that your diabetes meds and stuff will be gone. that being said..........

20 years i've been diabetic - hospital took me off meds - telling me to see my PCP within the month, see what he wants to do next - my A1C labs, were 6.0 - even lower now ;)

so guess what?

took me off meds, insulin completely :)

FYI - no more high blood pressure or cpap

Anxious to hear your results - you will post them, ok?

hope your numbers have improved a little and dr. will give you a break, and things will be good enough for you to have the life saving sleeve

it is true of course, you have a good chance to have your meds be lessened or eliminated totally with the help of your SLEEVE

good luck my friend

:)

I got A1C number today and its at an 8 the nurse said the guideline is below an 8 she is going to talk to the surgeon and find out if he will still to the surgery with it being an 8 I'm praying now that he decides to do it I explained to the nurse that the main reason to have the surgery is so my numbers can get lower and stay low. I really want to stop taking medicine and insulin please pray with me that everything works out and the surgeon decides to do my surgery.

Oh, I am praying with you. My A1C was an 8.8 in February, had surgery in April and 2 months after surgery my A1C was 5.8 It has helped so much.

Really fight for yourself because it is worth the fight.

I was taking HIGH doses of Byetta, Lantus and Humulin as well as metformin and glyburide before surgery and since surgery I have not taken any diabetes medicines. It has been an absolute life saver for me. I understand that the guidelines are because we do not heal as well when our sugars are out of control, but we do still heal - I actually had not problems whatsoever. Really have a heart to heart with him about your borderline results because this is critical.

God Bless and please let us know.

meds the day after surgery. I hope you'll have an even better recovery.

Thanks Isabel for praying with me I love hearing stories like this it gives me hope that I will also be off those meds. I haven't talked to the surgeon I only talked to the nurse I had a real heart to heart conversation with her so hopefully she will display my concerns to my surgeon. Thanks again for your continued prayers.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
