I was at a grumpy Starbucks two weeks ago and just asked for my tall in their grande cup, then took it up to my hotel room and mixed it together myself. If your powder blends well in a shaker bottle, awesome! I can't get the clumps out without creating vast quantities of foam, so I use my bullet even when I travel. I was at the grumpy Starbucks for 4 days, and they softened by day 3! I gave them lots of warm fuzzies ( I really appreciate this...you're the best...this is the best iced latte I've ever tasted...)

If you add about an inch of cold Water to your Protein in a separate cup & stir with a fork before you add the hot coffee it doesn't clump. I do the same for iced coffee' date=' and use a Blender Bottle sometimes too.

I hate the clumpies!

Hope that helps. I'm gonna have to try Starbucks. :)[/quote']

Thanks Kristie, I am a coffee addict an i was adding chocolate Protein to my morning coffee while i liked the taste that way, I hated the clumps. Of course this made me stop doing it but this tip will help me out. Thanks :0)

My nutritionist told me that caffeine stimulates the appetite so she recommended that I get off all caffeine, even in tea. So I am - pre-op - adjusting to decaffeinated coffee. The cold brew method makes Decaf taste great.

I was told the same thing. That and that caffeine irritates your stomach. I'm doing fine on decaf coffee and tea. I really dont notice much of a difference with decaf as everyone else is saying?

I think coffee is fine, Decaf was on my plan from the beginning (although I am not a coffee drinker). The only thing that I was told is that caffeine is a diuretic, so if you drink a cup of coffee, you should be drinking an extra glass of water/liquids to make up for the Water loss your body will experience...decaf is different though...it counts towards your Fluid intake, regular does not.

I'm two weeks post-op. I tried drinking a cup of hot coffee about a week ago and it immediately made me kind of queasy. Tried it again yesterday but iced from McDonald's with the sugar free vanilla Syrup. I'm so sick of Protein Shakes, that I used it as a treat -- a couple sips of Protein Shake, a quick sip of coffee to cleanse my palate! Coffee went down okay (even though I only drank about an ounce or two over the course of hours), and it got me to drink more Protein shake than I've been able to lately.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
