so if you are at a stall so close to your surgery what are you supposed to do to get out of the rut you are in?

I stalled two weeks out from surgery. Gained 2lbs and held steady for 8 days. At day 6, I increased my Water intake and started taking the Vitamins I was supposed to be taking from the beginning. I think both things helped me, and by day 8, I started losing again. Since then, I started exercising to ensure that I keep losing. I think we are all going to go through stalls no matter what we do. Eventually, the scale will start moving downward again.

My PCP gave me two tidbits of advice to prevent stalls:

  1. If I am dehydrated or lacking sufficient nutrients / Vitamins, my body would hold on to my extra weight to try to ensure it gets what it needs.
  2. If I would do some form of simple exercise (even walking in 10 min bursts), it would take me longer to reach stalls.

I am 4 weeks out today. I exercise at least 5 days a week (still only doing walking - doctor said I can't add anything else yet) and eat only what I am supposed to - even though I seem to be having trouble getting enough Protein or calories in. I have been in a stall for 2 weeks already and I am trying not to get frustrated. I know I am retaining Water, but enough not to show a change in the scale? I am hoping it doesn't last and I am going to try and increase my water intake. Any other words of wisdom or hints to try?

I'm just 2 weeks out from surgery and haven't had a loss for about 5 days now. Actually up one pound which really sucks! Trying to get as much Protein as possible and drink lots of water...

At 4 weeks I hit a stall for about two weeks. I didn't really let it bother me because I wasn't doing exactly right - eating all the Protein and taking Vitamins and what not. Anyway, I put on a pair of preop pants and noticed that I suddenly had three or four inches of extra material on each thigh! Guess I was burning inches instead of pounds! I'll take it!!!!

This is exactly what happens. I was stalled almost a month. Stuck. But dropped 2 pant sizes during this time and found out I had collar bones lol. It was from week 5 till 9. Your body has to catch up with you loss. Don't be discouraged. Put the scale away (husband hid ours) and just do what you know you need to. Get all your liquids, Protein first, and walk. Great job at the weight loss so far :-)

I've totally stalled too. Very frustrating but I'm just moving forward and keeping my fingers crossed that the scale will move eventually!

I have stalled also. I am 2 weeks post op .. i have not seen a drop in 5 days but yesterday i decided to change up my drinking pattern. normally i have my last Protein shake around 10 pm ...so i stopped doing that. now i have my last Protein Shake between 6 pm and 8 pm.

the last several days i have been religiously exercising at least 30 minutes per day.

after my visit with my doctor tomorrow i am going to try and increase exercise to 60 minutes per day.

i will let everyone know how that works for me.

Soror, at 2 weeks post op you probably are still carrying Water weight. You must get our Protein in and as much Water as possible. At 4 weeks I am still only getting in 32-40 oz of water. If you are exercising but not getting in enough calories/fuel kinda defeats the purpose of exercising. I think the beauty of the sleeve is that for the first 2 months if we are getting in our protein (60g +), water and Vitamins, the weight will come of effortless. After 2 months I hope yo increase my exercising and caloric intake and will work harder. Your body is still healing at 2 weeks! Heck, at 4 weeks I'm still healing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
