That coughing would feel like death! I've had some weird drainage the last few days. And whenever I cough, it hurts so bad!! I'm not even

a week out yet. Ouch!

I was coughing a bit the same day as surgery.. it does hurt! Whenever you can, hold a pillow over your stomach when you cough as tight as you can. It helps.

I got the worse case of hiccups the first time I got up to walk after surgery. My usual remedies are a big glass of Water or a spoonful of sugar, but I couldn't do either obviously. I really wanted to die. But a nurse looked me square in the eyes and said "hiccup for me". I thought she was crazy, but I couldn't hiccup on demand like that. Then I realized I wasn't hiccuping anymore.

I wanted to marry her right then. But my wife wouldn't let me.

Love the hiccup story. I had them too, the worst pain of the entire journey. Lasted almost 24 hours. Thankfully I can also say they were the only complication of my whole journey so far, And it is only 2 days to my 1 year surgiversary.

Try sneezing! I'm a pretty tough guy, but I actually saw stars the first time I sneezed after surgery. I thought my abdomen was going to explode!

Were you given the Incentive Spirometer? Are you using it daily still? I used it for 4 weeks, so I wouldn't get pneumonia. Because of the weirdness with the stomach and a lot of people hunch a bit after surgery, your diaphragm isn't fully expanding. It's also allergy season and that could stuff you up a bit too.

If you have the incentive spirometer use it and then when you are done, hold a pillow to your belly and try to cough.

I was extremely congested 4 days out and coughed all night, though I used the spirometer alot and I had a lot of drainage down the back of my throat from my nose. During surgery they put tubes down your nose and throat and for about 12 days I had some blood in my nose and I coughed a little blood up.

Best of luck to you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
