My surgery was at 7:30 am on Wednesday and I got home today around noon. I've had no issues, knock on wood. No vomiting, no extreme pain, just a little soreness in my abdomen. My upper arms are bit stiff from all the shots they give you. Being groggy for the first 24 hours was the most disconcerting. I couldn't text for the life of me!

I took two books and two magazines but did not try to read them. I just dozed a lot.

All in all, not a bad experience at all.

I had my surgery yesterday at 9:15am and I didn't wake up from the anesthesia until noon, that day was riff but today is much better. Did u need cathetor in? I can't pee on my own they said my bladder is still asleep so I have to wear one now and its supper uncomfortable. Worse part of all this I would say, I go home tomorrow. Good luck.

My catheter came out the day after surgery. There was no pain or discomfort.

I came home with pain meds but don't feel the need to take them. If I didn't know better, I would wonder if I an operation at all. Crossing my fingers that this luck continues.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
