Low Bmi-Ers, Happy With Bougie Size? Any Regrets?

I know, odd question and maybe I can over thinking this too much but you can never be too infomred right?!

I have about 70 Lbs to lose at a MBI of 33. I keep reading how the extremely low amount of food consumption for years following surgery and how FAST sleevers are losing weight. Why doesn't it make more sense to go with a larger pouch/bougie which should help with food tolerance, still give a large amount of restriction, and level out the extreme front end weight loss?

I have read bougie sizes can range from 30-40.

Are there any opinions out there? What about you low BMI-ers? what say ye?

There was a pic floating around awhile back that showed the difference un the various bougie sizes. You'd be surpried how very little difference there is in them. I think the bougie size we refer to i

  • My doctor said it is not so much the boogie size but it is how close the doctors staple to the boogie. He says he uses a 34 but staples out from the boogie.

Yes, like an endoscope

I am also low bmi (33 /34) and I asked in my follow up the size. Which was 34. I asked after the fact. Then I wondered If I had a choice or does he only have one size lol. I would have proffered the largest but I didn't think was my choice. If you have not been sleeved I suggest you ask. I know I would.

Hi Patty!

Thanks for the feedback. How's it going so far? When did you get sleeved?

I got sleeved on the 5 th i am a band revision. Honestly going well other than Bad heartburn. I did not have it before. For most it goes away after a couple months , hope I am one of lucky ones. Was very weak on clear liquids and now way way better on full liquids. :). Minimal pain maybe just with certain movements and mainly on my removal of Port. Lost 8 since morning of surgery and since started full liquids on Thursday scale has not moved and I am ok with that. :).
