Mexico Surgeon - Us Drugs To Take With You

Recommended Posts

Did anyone have their primary care doctor give them medication to take with them? gas, blood clots, pain meds, etc.

I am seeing my primary care doctor next week and would like to have whatever i may need well before hand. I think i tolerate pain well, but then who realy knows. My mother thinks she does too but she literally wails (sp). Maybe i suck it up to much or I wail and don't realize it. never had surgery before so i would rather be prepared than unprepared

The only thing I took was Gas-X strips (which didn't really work for me at all--ugh!!)

Everything else you'd need for pain, nausea or blood clots, they can/will provide. At least Dr. Kelly did.

Your Dr. in Mexico should give you what you need. When I was discharged I was given my antacid, pain pills and anti nausea medications. The only thing I used was the Antacid because I didn't have any pain or nausea.... or even gas for that matter!! LOL

My experience was truly amazing!

Best of Luck!

Thank you both.

barbdoll--you are right up the road from me. lol i'm in Frederick, md.

CJ-did you have to stay in San Diego overnight? I'm hoping to avoid the extra expense. Also, my understanding is the gas pain is from the gas in the cavity, not something that gas-x would help. Am I misunderstanding?

I didn't stay in San Diego overnight. If you fly into San Diego early enough, they will do the surgery the same day. Otherwise, if they can't, what they told me is if I flew in too late in the day they would just bring me to the hospital and I'd spend the night there. I suppose that would shorten your time post-op, though. I wanted the maximum amount of hospital time, so I scheduled my flight to get in at 9:30am. However, that ended up being a fiasco where I missed my connection because my first flight was delayed. I had to be re-routed and didn't get in to San Diego until about 2pm. I thought they were gonna make me wait to have surgery until the next day. But they didn't. I still had surgery the same day, though it was about 6pm.

You may be right, I don't know. All I know is they asked me to bring the gas-x strips. I assumed it would take care of any gas inside of me...I was wrong. I didn't get rid of that gas for over a week! :(

I'm young to Dr. K in August. What did he give you for blood clots??

Sorry, I don't mean to misinform. The doctor told me he gave me a blood thinner in surgery. They didn't give me anything after that (that I'm aware of). However, I did get compression stockings that I wore on the plane home.

May sound crazy but take your own Tylenok and Tampax if you may need them. I stayed at the Marriott in TJ. I had a horrible headache and went to the Marriott's "store". They charge for Tylenol and Tampax by the pill and pad. Crazy huh?

thank you everyone. I was planning on only bringing capris due to August heat but if i get to wear the glorious stockings guess i'll want sweats instead.

never would have thought of tampax since my TOM is unpredictable. Will be sure to pack.

I have only pj's, robe, panties, soft bra, and maxi dresses that I'm bringing with close toed shoes, so you won't be able to see the compression hose, and I'll be very comfortable!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
