What Is Going To Be Your "last Meal?"

Recommended Posts

I find myself wanting stuff that I wont be able to eat after surgery. I haven't planned any last meals yet, but have noticed I've been allowing myself to eat things I would not have two months ago. I think I'm going to go out to dinner before surgery.. Something special, somewhere different.

I'm doing a low carb diet for 3 months prior to surgery (2 months left) so I've cut out a lot of stuff I usually indulge in. Still though I want to indulge a few last times but I don't want to wind up with what I've seen refered to as 'last meal syndrome' lol. I think my last big meal will be all you can eat sushi. I haven't done it in a while but sushi is my favorite thing ever and I know I won't be able to have it for a hole post op because of the rice so I do plan go over indulge a bit on that! ;)

Before I started the liquid portion of my diet, my SO and I went to PF Changs, and I had my favorite meal (crispy green Beans with spicy sauce) and a piece of chocolate cake.

Mine was to Outback and I had coconut shrimp appetizer, steak and lobster with a loaded baked potato! It was wonderful. I went recently and had the skewered scallops with grilled veggies and took more than half home for lunch the next day! I totally enjoyed it too!

I'm wondering whether I will or not. One of the reasons I'm doing VSG is that there are, technically, no food restrictions after recovery.

I feel like I've spent the last few weeks on last meals. I haven't really thought about the final one at all.

I had Mexican food the night before my 2 week diet. I have 6 days left until surgery. My last meal is done!

Hmmm...It's going to have to be mexican. That's the one thing I think I'll miss most.

I'm having dinner with family and friends for 1 last "hoo-rah" where I can eat and drink "normally" :)....I do have these feelings that I need to make sure that I have my favorite Mexican, Chinese, etc. But when I think about it, I think....I've tasted it all, it's just food and at this point I'm tired of treating myself like a human garbage disposal. Looking forward to loving myself into healthiness and skinniness!!!

So true! I'm really pretty much over food. I'm really ready to move on with my life.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
