WOW!!!! 30 lbs is awesome weightloss in 2 weeks time!!!! You are doing fantastic!!

After reading your post I became a little more frustrated and depressed because I lost 9lbs the first two weeks and have lost nothing O since. I was sleeved on June 7th. Makes me think if I knew then what I know now I highly doubt I would have chose this surgery, especially after all I have been through with my whole journey.

I was sleeved June 5th. Lost 32 lbs fast. Haven't really lost any since then. I wouldn't get too discouraged. I think the initial weight loss is probably Water weight we shed. It's going to take our bodies a little time to get used to the sleeve and our new eating routines and to jump start our metabolisms and really get loosing the pounds. But it will happen soon enough. Just be patient and try not to get too discouraged.

hope2befree- one of the number one rules of WLS:

You cannot compare your progress to other people's! :)

I had about 185 lbs to lose initially - so I have a LOT to lose, that's alot of why I will more than likely lose more up front than those that have 80-100 lbs to lose.

Nine lbs is GREAT!! Think about it, that's almost TWO BAGS of potatoes!! Pick two of them up at the store and feel how heavy they are... you may change your tune :D

Yep Nate, our bodies are going through stuff in a crazy way, here's a good article that explains the week 2/3 post-op stall in more detail:

Some good info!

Heck ya. I wanna chime in. I'm 31 days postop and have lost 20ish pounds since surgery. For the last week and a half or so my scale has been going up and down the same 2 1/2 pounds and it is driving me crazy. It doesn't go above 270.8 but it won't go below 268 I keep waking up every morning thinking this is gonna be the day I see 267 and nope, it hasn't been the day yet. Tomorrow? A girl can dream, right?

Amy!! how frustrating!!!

This morning I woke up and was saying to myself "I'm NOT GONNA WEIGH I'm NOT GONNA WEIGH!!"...and what do I do, walk right on up and WEIGH. Only to see the SAME number I've been seeing for 12 days!! LOL I am such a glutton for punishment.. and a self-admitted scale-wh*re... haha

I am EIGHT POUNDS from being in twoderville- EIGHT POUNDS!! I actually was as close as FIVE POUNDS away after being desperate and stupidly taking some lasix last week (DUMB, do not attempt... lol)...

(SIGH)

I haven't stalled yet (thank god!!!), but I best most of you have cuz either 1) you had a huge initial loss and your body needs to adjust, or 2) your menstrual cycle is probably the cause.

I can imagine it's frustrating (I know my time will come), but the great thing about this surgery is that you WILL begin to lose again.

Keep the faith! ;)

It sounds like we are both in the same slow boat blondeej and it sucks! I never had a stall this early out the gazillion times I did Weight Watchers so I was sure it wouldn't happen list VSG.....WRONG! I too am a scale wh%#e and I doubt it will ever change. Tomorrow I will do what I do everyday. I will get out of bed, pee and hop on the scale and tomorrow again I will be optimistic. One day, hopefully soon, I will be happy at the number!

Hi...I'm Jill, and I'm a June (12) sleever and I'm in a stall :)

Im 3.5 weeks out, have lost 26 lbs and my scale has not moved in 7 days

I get in at least 60grams of Protein per day, get all my Water in, I exercise at least 40 minutes a day ( walking, elliptical, swimming)

WhAts the point of having my stomached butchered to loose 26lbs?

*sigh* pout

Good point Skye. I may be in a stall but in the last week, I've been able to put on pants that didn't fit the weeks prior. I am taking my measurements bit only every 4 weeks. I'm right in the middle of that 4 weeks right now.

Stalls are normal and they don't mean you are done losing weight. For most people needing to lose a lot of weight, they will happen multiple times. Hang in there and It will pass.

Stalls aren't fun and it screws with your psyche, but we ALL knew that it would happen. I have done the 2 lbs up 1 lb down 1 lb up 3 lbs. down routine myself.

Measure yourself, that's all I can say because I seem to lose the most inches during the times I stall. I was 206 this morning, but I'm not even going to bother changing my profile because tomorrow I may be 208.

I look smaller, I know I'm smaller the stall sucks completely, but I will get up pee and hop on the scale.

Funny thing though is I used to weigh more when I did that than if I had my morning shake and my morning poopy, but I rarely poop anymore and that's one of my biggest issues. I now do my morning pee and hop on and let it go.

I had a day that I weighed myself like 8 times and I was like why am I doing this. I like to weigh myself every day though even if it's discouraging, because not weighing myself daily helped contribute to me going over 300 lbs in the first place.

Oh another thing regarding stalls, the heat. Heat will cause you to retain Water. It's been 101 - 107 here lately and hopefully I can get out more and exercise once this heat wave slows down.

:) Good luck everyone

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
