I know there are probably 100,000 posts about this but Im being too lazy to look. Im 5 days post op and I feel ok, but I know Im not getting my Protein. I take 3 sips of the shake & Im full. It took my 45 mins to drink 6oz's. And I had to keep adding ice cause warm shakes are nasty.... Is there any easier way to get protein in??? My Dr. suggested 50-60mg per day. I only have 20 today :(

Alicia,

I had the same problem. Just force yourself to drink more and more. I am 3 weeks post op and am able to drink 3 muscle milk lights that have 20 grams of Protein each. I drink the chocolate. I am never hungry and literally drink and eat because I am told to. I also noticed that as soon as I started drinking the full 60 grams of Protein a day that my weight loss slowed down :( I am going to discuss this with my Dr. I haven't lost weight in about 4 days.

Have you tried adding unflavored Protein powder to your Soups? You can also add Protein to Jello if your making it. I tried a recipe from eggface that used Greek yogurt, Protein Powder, pudding powder and ice. It was really good.

Keep it in the fridge and sip throughout the day - there is no written rule that you have to drink it all at once! Just remember to keep drinking your other fluids as well throughout the day!

In the beginning I had to use the Protein Shots. Some have 25-50g in them. Most of them taste nasty so I would add it to my crystal lite and drink it throughout the day.

I am with you, sister! I hate my Protein Shakes. I tried the Protein Shots and literally dry heaved after drinking a sip. Never again. Up to this point, I haven't been able to get in all my Protein. I am determined to do it though! I bought some Atkins shakes that only have 15 grams in them, but I figure I will add these in w/ my foods and I am bound and determined to hit the 70 grams of protein mark that my NUT set up for me. Atkins shakes may not be the best Protein Drink out there, but I am able to handle it so I am going to stick to these.

Ugh! I know I'm not the only one but it does suck! I'm 6 days out and have no energy because I'm struggling to get any kind of Protein in. I've tried shots, Isopure clears, unflavored powder and idk what else because my mom has been shopping for me. She dilutes them with Water, ice, crystal light, Powerade zero, etc but I can still barely drink 3 oz of it. I'm still on clears too so I can't try shakes yet... but all that changes tomorrow, thankfully! I'm getting shakes and meat and dairy and everything else I can to try to get my energy back up! Also, there's a thread somewhere (can't remember where) about good places to get Protein powders and websites you can order samples from. I just placed an order of samples from Vitalady.com. I'm not going to just stick with one thing, I have to find something I can live with!

I feel like a child with my mom checking on me every hour to make sure I'm drinking. She's a nurse and has been freaking out about my blood sugar because I've been sleeping so much. :(

Good luck!

I agree with y'all. My doc said concentrate on hydrating first then Protein. It will come soon enuf. His nurse suggested New Whey bullets. 42g protein . I can sip that easily as its only 4oz. Fills me up. Found at Vitamin Shoppe. I also like the premier shakes from costco.< /p>

Hi guys! I'm a newbie, sleeved June 25th. The best Protein Shake I've found is called Pro-V 60. They have vanilla & chocolate but its great. The sugar count is 2g, Protein is 30g, and it tastes wonderful compared to all the others. Hope this helps. :-)

I am 7 days post sleeve and I'm also having trouble getting Protein. I've tried optisource strawberry and caramel flavored and several different flavors in Isopure and just don't like the taste. I still try to sip on it but I know I'm not getting enough. Today is the first day that I'm sleeping all day and feel like I have no energy. I need to figure something out. Going to my post op appointment tomorrow so I'll discuss it with my surgeon. Thinking that I can try the unflavored powder and put it in my broth.< /p>

I just ordered a cinnamon swirl and birthday cake flavor from tryabouttime.com . Tired of wasting my money and being picky. I also have been drinking the Atkins rtds and muscle milk like rtds but they get so pricey

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
