Would you mind me asking what your BMI was for those of you that were covered? My BMI is almost 38 and I have high cholesterol and a strong family history of strokes, high blood pressure and heart disease. BCBS told me that I do not need to complete 6 months of supervised weight loss beforehand any longer. I have seen my primary and I finish my 2nd appt. for my psy. evaluation this week. What else did you need to complete before your Dr. submitted to your insurance? I want to make sure i dot all my i's and cross all my t's so I can make sure I am approved! Any info. would really help me out!

Also, my PCP told me she submits to insurance prior to getting the approval to see the surgeon. She did tell me I would be referred to Loyola for the surgeon and I have done some research and would like to use Dr. Chand as a previous poster said, but I haven't been to any of his seminars yet because I have no idea if I will get approved! BCBS told me it is a covered benefit as long as I have a referral from my PCP. I'm very nervous and want to get the process going!

Dear, Jfredrick. I skipped seing my PCP and took anitiative and called to set up the seminar.once u have partaken in the seminar. A staff member of Dr. Chand clinc will call you to set up the first initial visit a few days after the seminar with the surgeon. Dr. Chand and his team will work with you and help you with ur insurance. I asked "whats is the success rate of insurance approvals" they said that they have yet to deny a pt their surgery. Dr chand has a team of professionals, you will c all of his coleges, the Bariatricion, Psycologist, Dietition,Surgeons. all in his office. testing is just across the streeet at the Gottlib Memorial Hospital.

my BMI is 56 and my wt is 293

Are you a PPO because I am an *** which is probably why I need a referral from my PCP. Thank you very much for your reply! Did you like Dr. Chand? I hope to attend a seminar very soon and get the approval!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
