I'm having terrible headaches and I'm wondering if it's related o the Lortab. What Tylenol/dosage do you take? Was thinking of picking some up today.

Did you just have surgery? I seem to recall that I was told I could take the regular strength Tylenol caplets, broken in half, along with the Lortab and plenty of Water. If in doubt you should call your doctor or pharmacist, though.

Lortab contains a combination of hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen (aka Tylenol). So you're already getting a good amount of acetaminophen from the Lortab. Lortab elixir 7.5 mg-500 mg/15 mL Oral Soln is giving you 500mg acetaminophen per 15ml. A single Tylenol extra strength has the same 500mg in it. A daily amount over 4,000 mg is considered toxic. So just please be very careful to keep track of your doses, and also make sure your surgeon or surgeon's nurse know you plan to add the Tylenol.

I understand you're probably talking about stopping the Lortab and switching to Tylenol, but just make sure count your doses in any 24 hour period (e.g. Lortab you took yesterday might still count toward additional mg you take today).

Hmm, all those pharmacology classes paid off after all... ;)

I am allergic to codeine, hydrocodone and all it's derivatives. When they took me off the morphine I went directly to Tylenol. For some reason Adult strength liquid tylenol has been pulled from most shelves over the last few years and it had to be ordered. I tried child strength liquid tylenol it made me gag, I tried tylenol suppositories, really..not worth it, so the doctor allowed me tylenol pills split in 1/2. I take two (whole split pills) twice a day.

It most likely is the lorotab giving you a headache. While tylenol never really touched my pain ever, I use it and I tell myself it works great. Luckily, power of persuasion works well with me and I believe what I say lol.

Good luck and feel well soon.

I as going to discontinue lortab and just take Tylenol. I was just wondering what dosage I could take of liquid or melts.

Any standard dosage should be fine, it should not bother your stomach. If you have extremely limited capacity still you may want to split or crush the pill (warning, it will taste horrible). At 2 days post-op I was able to take small pills. Especially if you go with the Tylenol tablet (little round ones) versus the standard size, it should be OK. There used to be a chewable max strength Tylenol called "to go tabs" or something - you might want to see if those are still around.

Someone above mentioned a liquid Tylenol. That's what I used when I had my band. The standard one was a cherry elixir and it was called "Rapid Blast". I could only find it at Walmart, and they no longer carry it, at least at mine. Probably because of the price. IIRC it was $4 - $5 for what amounted to about 8 doses. Not too bad, really, but when you can get 50 doses as a pill for $2, and most people are OK with pills...

It also came in a Tylenol PM formula that was "warm vanilla" flavor or something. It was horrible.

The loritab will make some people sick- especially if taken on an empty stomach... Which I'm sure u have... You can try drinking something and then taking it or liquid Tylenol

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
