I am 3 weeks post op and I am supposed to be taking calcium and wondered if you take a pill or do chewables? My doc said that I could just take a regular vitamin, but the nut told me that I should still be taking a chewable. They confused me since they were on different pages! When did you change to swallowing your vitamins and other supplements? I already swallow prylosec and synthroid.

I stuck with the Centrum chewables because they absorb faster than taking a big multi-vitamin and I feel the effects alot quicker I also take liquid B12 and Caltrate w/Vitamin D.

At 3 wks post op your sleeve might not be ready for the big non-chewables. My doctor stated I could after 4 wks.

I take Solotron from the GNC its a multi vitamin, and I take Calcium citrate chewable that I got online, its a nice citrus flavor, a sublingual b-12 (disolves under the tounge) and Previcid (meltaway). Dr told me that I would be on Previcid for the next year, to keep from developing ulcers.

I used chewable calcium up until about my 5th or 6th week. My doctor told me I could start taking "pill" form at about 4 weeks, so I tried here and there until it felt comfortable. The hardest part was taking it with meals, which meant *some* Water with food (before or right after a meal), which my NUT said was fine just to wash it down.

I use New Chapter Bone Health because (for some unknown reason) calcium citrate and carbonate both cause terrible headaches, body aches, and constipation with me. And that's taking it with magnesium, which usually helps prevent those things. However, another my PCP recommended trying these as a different form. She is not sure how well absorbed it is with my sleeve, but feels assured it's fine since my levels came back with good numbers. Plus, she really likes all the supplemental minerals that come with this version rather than JUST calcium and magnesium. It's only 770mg per 3 tablets, but she said so long as I still eat some soy or dairy in my diet -- that's perfectly fine for someone my age (36). And the tablets are much smaller than most calcium *horse* pills, they are more like ibuprofen-size.

I take the Bariatic Advantage calcium chews in lemon and raspberry. The also have D in them. They are my daily candy. I also take 1500 mcg of B-12 and a multi with Iron. It's called One Source Active Kids or something like it.

I just got my blood work done. We;ll see how it's working.

I'm a gummy nut--we use the VitaSource multis, Vitamin C, and my husband takes a b12, and I take Caltrate chewies plus D. The only pills I take are my Synthroid, my liqui-gel super B, and my teeny-tiny liqui-gel Biotin. I tried other chewables and also swallowing vitamin tablets, and they did NOT work with my sleeve. If you tend to push your calorie limits right up to the edge, gummies may not be for you, since they definitely are not sugar-free (I think they do make sugar-free ones, but I've never seen them in our local stores). To me, since I take my Vitamins at night, it's like a nice little before-bed treat. I will say that since starting the gummies, I have been in a GREAT vitamin routine; I never took vitamins this regularly pre-surgery.

You might not require all the vitamin supplements that I take--evidently I tend to be low on thiamine, thus the super B, and my hair was falling out like a long-haired dog in July, thus the biotin. I don't really take the extra C on most days, since I eat a lot of Vitamin C containing foods, but occasionally I'll chew one (which is 1/2 a dose).

I'm taking Bariatric Advantage brand for all of the following: Multi vitamins chewables with B complex, Calcium Citrate chews, Dry Vitamin D3 1000 mg, Iron 30 mg, sublingual B - 12, melts under the tounge. In the morning I take all except the D3 and Calcium, because the Calcium and iron cancel each other out, as per my dietician..... So, hours later I take 2 calcium chews and the D3, then at bedtime, I take 2 more calcium chews... I looooove the caramel ones best, but lemon are great, too. The multi's taste kind of chalky but at least I know Im getting what I need since they are specifically for bariatric patients.
