i agree that it means sensible amounts, which the band sure helps with. i can no longer eat a 24 oz ribeye, baked potato loaded with toppings and a salad.

at least, not in one sitting.

Thanks for all of the discussion.

Niceguy -- i laughed so hard about your carbs=alcohol=beer belly. That sure explains my reflection in the mirror!!! lol

I'm glad to hear that salads aren't out - they are one of my favs.

I am obviously not eating as the w of w would have me do, or I wouldn't be in my predicament. However, I just want to make sure that I can use all that food supply when the time comes!!!!

After selling the extra cars, moving to a cheaper place, rearranging finances to keep afloat in this crazy time....

Church is next to go.

Just this month alone..... $100 for camp, 30 for Pioneer day (that's just the dinner...the booths and treats are gonna be extra...oh, and we are supposed to bring something for a donation.... the scouting fundraiser is $20, fuel to get to church and back on Sunday...Wednesday....the RS meetings....

I can't do it any more!

I'm not poor by any means, that's the thing. But fuel prices what they are it costs $7.00 every trip to church...and let's not even get started on food prices, utility increases, etc.

When and how do you cut back on church? My thoughts are Sacrament is a must...the others are going to have to stop.

(tithing and fast offerings are current and won't be touched)

if I am not mistaken RS meetings other than on Sunday are quarterly, unless you are joining groups such as book clubs, exercise groups, etc. as for your kids can they not carpool with other young people going to the Wednesday activities lessening the times a month you have to drive?

just a thought

Hi There!

I am an LDS mom; not too young. I'm 31, but I have young kids a one year old and a three year old. We are living in Malaysia for the next few years. We have a house in Layton, Utah. Did you get banded TawnFawn?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
