Congratulations on your success. Yes, I am banded. I have been banded since October 3rd, so almost one month. I have lost enough weight to feel like I am walking on air. So, I have been working on building up leg muscles and endurance to run. Right now I can jog 3 minutes and walk 3 minutes and repeat the pattern 5 times. It feels great to be back into life!!

I am in Malaysia for many reasons.

1-financial

2-diversity for my children

3-city life and transportation for my husband

4-Other Reasons

1- My husband has some disabilities from a series of diabetic comas, so I have been the primary breadwinner for the last 3 years. I had an extremely difficult time taking care of my little family financially in the USA as a teacher in Utah. Here in Malaysia we have much better healthcare and insurance and I get paid enough to support our family comfortably. I received the lapband just 2 months after arriving. (but I went to Singapore to get it done).

2- We also wanted to raise our kids in a place rich with diversity, culturally and religiously, which we couldn't find in Utah.

3- My husband needed to be where he could get around (can't drive anymore).

4- Travel (well, you know it's fun), space apart from -inlaws, etc.

Sunnyside- I'm learning more and more every day. I have been hearing about and reading about people who are moving away from the US for financial reasons. What made you decide on Malaysia and how did you go about making that huge move?

Well I am a teacher and I went through ISS (International School Services) at Princeton in New Jersey. It was a two month process to get accepted by them and then I was invited to the recruiting fair in NYC. International schools from around the globe were in attendance. ISKL (International School of Kuala Lumpur) from Malaysia was at the top of my list. There benefits and programs were very attractive. I was offered a position and 9 months later here we are. I can see the Lord's hand in all of this. I had been in an abusive marriage for 4 years, but finally got a divorce. I am so blessed to be in Malaysia because I can afford a live-in nanny for my two little ones. The school will be great for them (the three year old already gets to go half day). The $15,000/year tuition is waived because I work there.

I always wanted to home-school my kids, but turned out to be the breadwinner. This school is my second choice to home-schooling ;-)

Hi Klandie,

Have you been banded?

How is it going for you?

I was banded in October; I have lost 47 pounds, but am ready for my first fill. I am only losing about 1 pound a week now. (For the passed 2 weeks).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
