Post-Op Abdominoplasty, Panniculectomy, & Tummy Tuck

Recommended Posts

Question to those who have had a panniculectomy, TT, or Abdominoplasty procedure. In the hospital what was the feeling you had once you knew your abdomen was no longer hanging, sticking out, or having loose skin? Also, after you went home while recovering, what were your family and friends reactions? And how often did you look in the mirror? How many sizes did you go down and/or inches did you lose?

As my day approaches, I keep going on in my mind, wondering to myself, will I cry, or smile ear to ear, or do I just want to jump and go running to scream it to the world.

Hey, I can tell you about the TT. I did this whole thing backwards. I had a TT about 6 years ago after I lost about 60 lbs on my own. It was one of the best things I've ever done. However, it was rather painful for me because I had never really had major surgery. I have no children. I was 'pimp skinny' after the sugery because I couldn't eat a thing for weeks. My PS told me that he removed 5 lbs. from my abdomen. The sad part is that I gained all of the weight back and now I am hopefully having WLS soon. But, I still have a flat stomach that is the envy of everyone. I remember waking up from surgery and touching my stomach and it was gone! A great feeling! You will look fabulous! I hope I don't have any belly hang issues after the WLS, but I know my thighs will need a lift and my arms too!

You stomach will feel very tight and it will be hard to stand up straight. You will feel great about 2 weeks out to be rid of the pouch. Best of luck

Today, as I walked along a walk way, I turned my head to see myself by the store window. Hmmmmm, I knew my lower abdomen was low as I have been losing weight; but I was stunned at how much lower it hung down. It was almost disappointing and depressing at the same time. I promise myself to stay strong and strive to the top at this weight loss game.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
