10/17 is my date. I went for pre-op and pre admissions today. They could not find a vein to get the blood for labs. Took them 4 sticks in 4 places, digging around and blew out 2 of my veins. I hope this is not a prelude to what's to come.

I am still excited and maybe a little anxious. 3 days now on the CLEAR liquids... not hungry yet so that is good.

May God be with each and every one of you as you take this journey.

I love this site!

Sleeved on 10/10. The time after surgery I was pretty loopy and had minimal pain. Now it's 1 1/2 days later and I'm In the hotel recouperating and feeling great! I have totally bonded with the 3 other girls who sleeved the same time. We're all doing well.

Wow chad, way to go on the walking! I was sleeved 10/9 and still have a lot of pain. I can barely get out of bed and walk down the hall three times. I guess we have different experiences and you do look much younger than me! I am feeling better every day and I know that I will get there!

I was sleeved on Oct. 9 and came home from the hospital today. The first night I started vomiting, but they were right on top on the nausea, and then my heart rate and blood pressure spiked and they kept me another night just to make sure all is well. I am surprised that it isn't more painful and that I feel better than I expected. I am tired and just trying to remember to sip rather than drink is harder than I thought it would be. I am walking some but trying not to overdo it.

Best wishes to all of those coming up-it is not as bad as I expected!

Good morning, now I am official Oct Sleever, had surgery yesterday and it went well. My heart rate is low, which is normal for me but my blood pressure is also low hopefully the meds will help, needless to say it was a sleepless night. Keeping my fingers crossed I won't have to stay any extra days. They will try me on some liquids shortly to see how well I do. One of my nurses had the surgery 3 mos ago and has lost 75 lbs, she looks great! Have a great day everyone.

Congrats! I'm glad you're doing ok. Must be nice to be on the recovery side.

I've had a wild week. Saturday my primary doc diagnosed me with diabetes and started me on metformin (which is evil, I have felt like crap on it.) Yesterday I had all of my pre-op testing and found out I have major gallstones so will have to have my gallbladder removed during surgery as well.

And today I started my pre-op diet. I know this will all be worth it in the end, but right now, I'm just feeling so overwhelmed.

Thank you Alicia!!! That stinks about your diabetes and gall stones but better to have found out now rather than later.

You will go great on your pre-op diet, is it all liquid or can you have some food intake? I was allowed 800 cal a day but didn't use them all.

Good luck and keep us posted :$

So good luck to everyone I will keep u posted on everything. I'm glade I did it for me talk to you all soon when I get home and settled in. Thanks Andrea

Congrats Honey! Glad you're doing well.

My buddy Quitaboo is having her surgery today! :) Hope she's doing well.

and my pre-op isn't just liquids, so that's nice. I can have a piece of fruit, a yogurt, and a sensible dinner (or lunch) with 4 oz lean meat and as many veggies as I want.

So glad to hear Honey! I came home last night and feel pretty amazing, my first night in the hospital I didn't get much sleep because if my heart rate and blood pressure but I made up for it last night (nothing better than being in your own bed). I have a lot of gas but walking and burping is helping a lot...lol. So excited for our new journey, well wishes for you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
