2Weeks1Day Out What Can I Eat

Recommended Posts

I am pre-op, but have read that first two weeks are liquids, then full liquids, then mushies. Based on your surgeon's recommendations, you may find some ideas at this great site: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

You may want to go to the beginning of her journey to see what she was consuming. Good luck!

I loved me some Soups. Grab your favorite one and throw it into the blender.

I had three Soups that I lived on:

Turkey Chili

Lentil Ham

Chick Veggie

I cooked them up well, then blended them. So much flavor, which I was just DYING for.

At restuarants, I would ask them to puree it and they always did, no problem. I remember a clam chowder that was AWESOME! It was still a bit chunky, so I got some quality chew time in as well.

Soup ... it's whats for dinner ... and lunch ... and dinner ... but it doesn't last forever. I still eat these soups now, just not pureed.

My surgeon and NUT said to stay away from Tomato Soup for two weeks or so. But you can get great flavor from pureeing any other Soups (stay away from those with noodles though). I ate a lot of pureed chili (you can add a little chicken broth to it if it is too thick) and black bean Soup (I just mixed a can of black Beans, a tiny bit of cumin and oregano, onion powder, and chicken broth - heat it all up good, puree and it was so tasty!). I bought a Magic Bullet at costco for $29 for pureeing, but a blender works well too!

When you say, "Having trouble", what does that mean? Doesn't taste good, hard to swallow, comes back up ... all of the above?

At your stage, yes, very normal. Everyone is different, of course, but your stomach is very swollen from the surgery, as you can imagine. Some folks are more swollen than others. As the swelling goes down, your capacity increases, so ... it does get better. (and no, when this starts to happen to you, you are not stretching your sleeve)

I wouldn't be eating wonton since that is similiar to Pasta and you can't have that for awhile.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
